Question for mito and others on at risk list- any idea how to find out if someone is on the list? My friend has had a lot of issues with clots, he’s technically had a stroke (massive clot in brain, but in a position that didn’t cause any motor function failure), he’s been hospitalised with dvt in the past, which spread to lots of little clots in his lungs, at its worst he couldn’t even walk from hospital bed to go to the toilet. He’s well enough now, but on blood thinners for the rest of his life- I would have thought this would put him at risk, especially the lung stuff but no letter, and his GP said they won’t know until he knows

The list of qualifiers is on the govt page I linked a few pages ago.

Or he can just go on the application form

The third question has the list of conditions.

Also I’ve now had 2 calls from the government no. Starting with 03333 - I answer and just get hold music and then it hangs up after 30 seconds.
Had a lady call me at 3:30 on Friday - I think she was a volunteer (the voicemail wasn’t very clear) but she said she was told to check up on me by my GP and if I could call her back by 4pm otherwise she’ll call me again next week. Well I only saw the message at 4:30 so missed that too

At least you are living in a decent place Mito. Got to feel for the folk cooped up in flats with no outside.

Yeah, although I guess I’m one of the evil Londoners who has “escaped” to the countryside now. Probably wise though as in my case I have a mate/neighbour who lives 2 floors below me which I may have depended on the odd grocery - and he reckons he caught covid 2 weeks ago although not officially tested.

Thanks for that, as he currently doesn’t have any known clotting issues don’t think he’ll qualify

Understandable. My parents have been isolated for a long while now but have a decent house and garden to keep them entertained. Luckily a mate of mine works in IT for a large supermarket so with a little assistance theyve a recurring slot for supplies. I've also a friend who supplied wine to restaurants who now drops off stuff to homes as he is effectively crippled for work - which brings me onto the point - you can have things left at your door, just ensure it's wiped down and the person picking it up has gloves.
I'm starting to get a feeling this will be another 2 months at least.

I can't imagine how those families living in city flats with no gardens and limited places they can get out for a walk are coping. Am grateful for small mercies like having a garden and countryside on the doorstep.

Very much the above. Me and the wife were discussing this the other night. We're very lucky to have enough space inside and outside. I really feel for people stuck in small flats with no garden. It must be difficult psychologically.

Yeah I returned mainly because there’s plenty of jobs back at my parents place so it’s good to keep busy.
Another problem with staying in London is that I couldn’t walk the dog so would also have to give him away to my parents - being locked in a flat, alone for months - nah can’t do it.

One thing which is boiling my piss a bit, but you can file under "spoilt entitlement issues" is the amount of people out walking and running in groups on local trails who do not plan on moving one inch from their direction of travel leaving you to get out of their way and not even acknowledge you. On the 6 mile route I did today, I saw more people in that one session that I'd normally expect to see on it in 6 months+ of running
Its great that so many people are getting out and exercising, but just some courtesy and common sense would be nice.

I found the opposite - I’ve been out with my boy on the bike a few times and everyone is literally crossing roads to give each other distance with lots of nods and thank yous too

Just seems to be totally random with good days and bad days. I guess its just people getting bored and wandering a bit further from where they'd normally go.

Just been and collected mrs H after 5 nights in hospital. The difference between when she went in and how she is today is remarkable.

This, I run every day and it’s weirdly random. Sometimes everyone’s giving plenty of room, thinking ahead. Other days it feels like nobody gives a fuck.

I found the same as Mike. The pictures of London over the weekend are all you need as proof.
Best just to stay in.
