Ah but which Ferrari had the same engine as the Fiat Dino bearing in mind that the "Ferrari Dino" wasn't really a "Ferrari"

Alfa 8C? I guess you don't mean the 1930s grand prix car!

Same deal as with the Maserati engines - same block (f430 I think) but different crank, etc. so not a true Ferrari V8.

Ah ok - makes sense - I wouldn't have thought he'd have forgotten about that.

Stratos has the same issue as the fiat Dino, they both use the v6 from the Dino 246.

The Dino was never sold as or badged as a Ferrari despite being built by them and being named after Enzos son.

Thus a stratos doesn't have a Ferrari engine.

Point doesn't look to stand up too well to scrutiny though unfortunately. The lineage of that 65° V6 engine was mixed but it was used as a Ferrari engine in an F2 car in 1956 so pre-dated being used in the 246 Dino by 10 years. Fair enough to call it a 'Ferrari' engine, even if you wouldn't call the 246 a Ferrari I think.

I know you had already made it but seemed a bit hard for some to understand.

Alfa 8C; sorry, on holiday so permanently pissed 😃
I think my mind was wandering to the Maser Gran Turismo though, which had Ferrari V8 engine blocks IIRC.

Basically, Harry is doing a slack job. Is he on acid or something?

Oh, and you missed the fact the 8.32 has a different crank to the Ferraris it shares a block with, right? 😄

Has anyone mentioned the fact the Dino wasn’t badged as a Ferrari? No? Good that’ll be why Harry didn’t mention the Stratos in the video.

Thema sounded nice. Reminded me of my A8 but a bit more vocal and certainly more revvy. Lovely to have a woofly engine in a relatively small car.

I don’t recall a Thema other than the 8.32.

Not even the Turbo?

https://m.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C932031 always had a soft spot for them.

My first encounter with an 8.32 - a complete nob took his up the Longleat hill climb on an Autocar open day in the 90s. He wasn't authorised to go up, went anyway, after telling everyone his car had a Ferrari engine. He did a terrible burnout off the line too. Ah, Ferrari (engine) owners (sorry Ian) 😀

Yep - 180-odd bhp, rising to 205bhp on later cars. I recall Fast Lane mag favouring the later turbo over the 8.32 as it handled better with less weight in the nose.

8.32 is a car i have never seen in the flesh.

I've seen a couple. One at a specialist and one at the Bristol Auto Moto Festival back when I had the 166.

I'm surprised that no-one has mentioned that the Stratos didn't really have the engine from a Ferrari as the 246 Dino was never badged as a Ferrari.

No Jimmy - I dont think the Stratos was ever badged as a Ferrari.

Incidentally, I think many Stratos replicas are badged as Strato's.
