We are clean out of Carling Black Label Multi Packs in Port Talbot, my dad is furious.
Does he live in the 90s?

I can’t remember the last time I heard someone use Carling’s full name
He's 71, refers to it as Black Label and considers it a premium product

So, are Italy pretty fucked, or are they just looking for an excuse to tank their economy and get bailed out?

I reckon we’re all fucked. Went to Westfield shopping centre today, hardly any people, mainly staff sitting bored in stores. London buses not even full at rush hour. Quite a bit less traffic. Restaurants not very busy.
Considering the number of major businesses that were just floating before this kicked off then it’s going to be really bad. If some big restaurant, clothing and travel chains go kaput that’s hundreds of thousands without jobs.
They’re predicting this shit show to last till end of the year too. At which point we’ll be double bent over fucked with a no deal brexit.

Also can’t help but feel that it’s being played down here just to keep the economy running at all costs for as long as possible

What I find unbelievable is so many people living hand to mouth day to day when interest rates are so low. It's almost as if they weren't taught about money at school.

That’s because they dropped the Black Label part in the late 90s

Out here in the sticks I've not noticed any difference in anything. Traffic same, people in shops same, people in town the same.

All I noticed was the shelf where the beans are was looking a bit empty compared to normal.

I was out in Newcastle last night and they've clearly decided its all fake news going by the total lack of hygiene on display by blokes in loos.
I've been out in York all afternoon and can confirm similar. A lot of people really are dirty fuckers!!

Loads of people at Cheltenham station for some reason 😄

Birmingham doesn’t seem as deserted as London. Yet.

I was looking at the link Simon posted earlier to arcgis, and it's interesting comparing death rates to confirmed cases in Europe. e.g. Germany has c1,500 confirmed cases and just 2 deaths vs. Spain and France at c1,700 cases and 32-35 deaths. 0.1% vs 2% (acknowledging Simon's point about that comparison).

The numbers don’t seem to add up looking at individual countries. Presumably the first few thousand patients have much better odds as they’re all given the best healthcare possible - then as the doctor in the Sky news link says they have to prioritise treatment to the patients who they think are most likely to survive.

The China numbers are complete bullshit. Just looking at their individual regions how can Shanghai possibly have fewer infections than the U.K? Most of their counties outside Wuhan have sub 1000. Seeing how it’s spread across Europe I don’t believe any of that. The next worst country is Iran and again that’s all fictitious.

Right now we can only go off Italy and it’s grim.

I saw the headline 'Tesco rations essentials' and thought 'that'll upset Waitrose'.

I can't get my head round if this is a BIG THING or if it's serious but life can go on. I'm supposed to be in the UK in July, followed by time in the US on the way home. I can shuffle the trip a bit further back if needed. But trying to navigate whether to pull the pin on flights (which are currently cheap, but this is normally a trip I have to save for ages to pull off) and then know if it all goes sideways, travel insurance can pick up the bill(s) if needed - seems like taking complete gambles currently.

Plus the purpose of being in the UK is to see my old man who's 78 - he's pretty healthy, but last thing I wanna do is travel, then arrive and kill him with a virus that's barely affected me. That would be less than ideal...

Wow, they didn’t hold back with at drop, did they? The economic effects must be pretty bad already if they’ve done this so quickly.

Same potential dilemma, meant to be going back to Aus in July for a month (with a short stopover Bangkok) for Mum's 80th :|
