The 990 with loader has been worth its weight in gold for hauling all manner of half buried stuff about. Starts on the button first time every time, and will chug along all day.

Did I ever post about the 1929 Sunbeam on here which used to share garage space with the fiat?

Fiat on the right, Sunbeam on the left and space in the middle for whatever his current car was at the time until 10 or so years ago when it became a bit much to keep walking to the farm when he wanted to go anywhere.

Anyway, he sold that about 8 years ago and there's a link somewhere on the net to when it was last up for sale after being fully restored whilst keeping as much of the originality as possible. Will see if I can find a link later.

And people wonder why I like collecting cars 😂

I love that they kept the original seats where most full restorations would have had them recovered and made like new. They look like proper armchairs 😎

Handy to have one as backup in case of a microchip frying nuclear war ;)

Needs arch flares to help the stance 😂

The 25D, the one with no headlights would be my choice. Small and diesel which will run forever on anything oily and vaugly flammable.

That cropmaster is more rare and probably worth more but agricultural petrol engines that old are probably a lot more tempremental I expect.

Maybe I should borrow you to get an old stationary engine working that I have in the garage. Jap 2.A with wartime generator on the side. I've just ordered a print of an overhaul manual for it.

The hardest thing I'm finding is trying to find my way around imperial sockets. I have absolutely no frame of reference for any of the sized at all ( other than 1/2 being a gnats cock smaller than a 13mm ) which results in every task being multiple trial and error attempts with various sockets!

I’d be so tempted to keep one of the tractors and use it for holding up the locals when going to the pub for a cider in the summer.

Truck went for £8k which was slightly dissapointing, I would have liked to have seen five figures. If it was 5 or less I would have bought it.

On the plus side, it's going to a cousin of my grandads for a mechanical only restoration so the Godbold name can stay painted on the chassis and we'll be able to see it running again. Some photos later, I'm knackered and filthy!

On the plus side- by losing the truck it frees up space to hot rod one of the old tractors

Pumped up the tyres, gave it a tug and she pulled straight out!

Shame we didn't get it out earlier, but I guess part of the appeal of a barn find is being able to see it where it has sat and 'rescue' it

No hotrod tractors as they've all sold. Only dissapointment was the parrafin David brown, the rest made strong money.

:(

Any idea if they’ve gone to be restored and shown or as actual farm machinery?

I would expect most will just be cleaned up and oiled and used for local shows / tractor runs. Everything he had was so straight and original it would be a bit of a shame to strip and paint them.

Funnily enough a brand new tractor drove past my Parents’s this afternoon towing an immaculate old tractor. It had deep blue with bright orange wheels. Let me know if anyone sees it being used nearby. Looked cool, sort of a Porsche colour scheme.

How come your grandpa just left everything for decades like that? Just health reasons?
