Not sure if we are still using this thread, but anyway, wife gave birth to a baby girl this morning. Everyone doing fine, happy days. :D

A bit annoying that they got taken to the ward and I'm not allowed to see them now, bloody covid!

Edit - Girls can still enjoy Scalextric too BTW! :P

Heeey - that’s awesome news 😎

I’d suggest you ignore Rich and just sleep about 3hrs tonight - might as well start conditioning yourself for the next 5yrs. 🤔🙂

Congrats to you and the Mrs, Duncs! Sleep's overrated anyway!
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

I've never understood this. Our lad sleeps through. Always has done. Sure, it's not always been easy to get him to sleep, particularly in the colic days, but once he's down he's down.

I think it helps that he's in with us. Yeah it's not recommended but I think it makes him feel safe. He often has 2 arms out as he sleeps One each so that he can touch both of if so he knows we're there.

Yeah, all babies not sleeping exactly when you want them to is definitely an abstract idea that is difficult to understand.. 😂

Hope you get a good sleeper Duncs!

Thanks guys! I have been taking Rich's advice as much as I can, at least so I can be fresh enough to let the missus rest when she gets home.

In general the wife is the big fan of sleeping, and would happily sleep for 12hrs+ given the chance. For me it's more of a means to an end, so yeah, I do find it a bit overrated, the real world is far more interesting. How well I can function without it is another question though! Let's see, I actually hear of quite a few babies that sleep well, so it's by no means a foregone conclusion that at least some sleep is possible.

@Barry good shout, I never thought of it that way! I will definitely be taking her out in the Lotus when I'm able to rig up the right kind of seat.

Many congratulations 8-)

Things I learnt from parenting......

Never feel guilty for catching a nap even if your other half is knackered. As when you don’t clear from the salt from the table and she wants to slice you up with a knife, you are awake enough to not argue back.

You will soon be immune to all bad smells and sticky stuff, shit on your hand, well that just requires a cursory wipe with tissue.

Farting is ALWAYS funny.

If driving them around gets them to sleep, do it as much as possible. My chats with my boys when in the harness or in the car are the happiest memories. Plus you can spread your wisdom on important things.

Dave!
