Just looking at that Tiff clip last night - the F1 sure does lean about as much as a modern day Transit van
I reckon it would be disappointing to drive in a spirited manner in 2019 - no doubt suspension and brake upgrades would fix it right up but just replacing a bolt with a non OEM one would cause £500k of depreciation wouldn’t it
The GTR version was an ok track car I believe

I can't move past this. You really are a simpleton, aren't you.

Disappointing to drive a McLaren F1.
A McLaren F1.

Yes. That is what he said. It beggars belief because I have a feeling he actually meant it.

I think Leno was suggesting similar in his video
Not that is was bad, but that it was only the best of its era, not necessarily the best of now.
Fairly sure he didn’t use the word disappointing though...

Well - yes, of course, as that would suggest that cars have not improved in 20 years, including ones by the same manufacturer.
To segue from that to a McLaren F1 being disappointing to drive really does require a moron to do the "thinking".

I really liked the video
You get to see lots of bits that perhaps you’d not be able to see without actually owning the cars, and things that aren’t covering on the usual reviews of driving fast then doing a massive drift

The F1 engine has a sound like no other. It’s like you can hear the explosion of each cylinder by itself instead of all put together. Incredible.
It’s not my favourite supercar but it’s the best engine ever fitted to a car.
Dave!

Oh get over the wanking “F1 is the greatest car” shitshow you and every other guy on a car forum likes to play along with. I’m guessing to own one would actually be like any other car old car, exciting as fuck for a little bit, then you get used to it because that’s how the human body works, then you realise it’s not really that good in 2019.
There’s a guy who owns one on Boatshoes, he has a long running thread on it which is one of the very few I’ve actually followed and he said it was designed as a comfortable touring car and wasn’t very good when he took it on track days. He actually did a lot of reversible modifications to make it better to drive.

Yes yes yes, but what's it like as a comfortable touring car in 2019?

Can't watch that. What an annoying turd!
I made it through until he started talking about giving it some sort of score.
I won't be watching any of his other videos about anything less interesting that an f1 anyway
I kind of get where Rev is coming from. I think they are wonderful machines, but it's not the supercar I lust after. Given a theoretical chance to own just one supercar, I'm afraid mine would be red and have F40 embossed into the side of the rear wing.
I did enjoy doing a bit of random BMW e36 switchgear spotting, and also thought in the slow driving about bit it sounded very s50 ish. Not so much when giving it some stick though

Still 288 GTO for me.
But if I was forced at knifepoint to drive a macca f1, then i'd find the strength.

Growing up it’s the 959 that did it for me, because of Paris Dakar rally. Then later on it’s F40.
F1 is a car that I respect, but ditto with Ian, not lust after.
F1 GTR however, in their Le Mans liveries......

Highly annoying, but worth suffering for learning stuff I didn't know.

Yep, it's exactly that. I'm impressed by the geeky details, but it just doesn't give me a boner.

So you hear that engine, and you think... nah, 'clinical' or some similar bollocks.
The original and best review and why Tiff Needell is basically god
Chris is correct. Doug De Muro is too annoying even to click on that video.
Tiff being god (and getting a Guiness record in an F1):

Yer all deaf
The engine sounds fantastic, no argument there. It's not even "clinical" as I think that's a stupid criticism. I'm not saying it's bad, just that it doesn't stir me. Jay Leno himself talked about it being turbine smooth, relatively softly set up, pure design that quietly impresses etc. I prefer the stripped out, flame spitting, bucking bronco F40 or the UFO looks of the Countach. I've always said, if I ever drive one, I'm sure it would leave me dribbling but it wouldn't be my first choice to buy if I suddenly ended up becoming a billionaire.
