Repaired tumble dryer last month.
May have to destroy dishwasher with extreme prejudice as it’s fucking crap at its job - will replace with an expensive one that lasts this time.

I seem to be the primary purchaser for lots of things that get passed on to other kids after minimal utilisation by my own. Don’t think I’ve seen a single item of clothing or toy used to destruction, they always outgrow them beforehand. Wife’s very good at giving stuff away though.

My son flies gliders instead of powered craft, so that probably helps offset my own footprint.

Cars - I’ve told my son I’ll equal whatever he saves for his first car purchase. I’m looking forward to going the auction to buy him his first shitter! He fancies a Fiesta, so I know he’s got good taste in cars at least!

This mornings parenting consisted of keeping a look out for uptight ecofuckwits whilst my 6 year old carved his name into a mature Beech at a local beauty spot with his bushcraft knife. We then whittled some spears and chatted about the merits of knife vs gun in one/one combat situation.

We recycle a lot, possibly 90% of what we throw away. We can go a couple of months without the non recycling bin becoming full but if we miss a single recycling collection we start to struggle. We also car share which saves a fair bit.

When we moved into the current place we decided to get a house which is south facing with the living areas facing the sun. Even a few hours of sun at this time of the year means we won’t need to put the heating on and use the gas so it saves us an absolute fortune.

We try to recycle as much as we can and try to avoid plastic packaging wherever possible, though that can be difficult. Like others I try to source meat and vegetables locally and am trying (and quite often failing) to eat less meat.

I probably use 80-85 gallons of SUL per month on average which is quite a bit but on the flip side I contribute to the saving of huge amounts of energy through my job so I sleep easy

No kids of my own, I’m a scout leader, trying to teach kids skills they wouldn’t have otherwise and have fun along the way

We’re (almost certainly) not going to have children, so that’s me helping with population control

So we’re saving the planet for our children by buying nice stuff, remembering to do our council led recycling and driving to the butchers...

Or not having children.

It's inspirational stuff isn't it, thank you chaps. See if you can get some awards for saving the planet by 'just sort of going about life normally'

I used to worry about the amount of landfill waste that we as a household produced.

Every fortnight the wheelie bin was overflowing.

I thought that I might have to start burning it in the garden.

Then the council agreed to provide us with TWO waste bins instead of just one.

Not really a worry at all now.

We all thank you for your selfless contribution.

I have decided to REUSE the motorbike tyres tomorrow and NOT BURN THEM TONIGHT instead.

Move to Stockton, ours all gets burned in the energy from waste plant, none of our rubbish goes to landfill

A gargantuan incinerator is currently being constructed next to junction 12 of the M5. I presume that all our unwanted shit will be going there in the near future. They are making it increasingly difficult for the council tax payer to take stuff to landfill around here. They've started shutting the tips on random days to cut down on the waste that they take in.

Unsurprisingly, there's a hell of lot more fly-tipping than there used to be. A crime that should be taken a lot more seriously than it is in my book.

I am annoyed that my council has to pay a landfill tax. Large corporations make the decisions not to use recyclable packaging and no doubt pay minimal corporate tax. Completely arse about face.

My wife has started using soap conditioner and soap shampoo and soap shower gel. Sadly you cannot buy that locally so it is shipped here in a box filled with foam slugs things.

I buy old cars and keep them as long as I can (or until I can convince her I "need" a newer/different one.

Unless Governments start taking eco issues seriously as opposed to enabling fracking and oil out the ice caps etc whether or not we recycle our milk plastic is probably irrelevant. See also a single trip by a supertanker and the oil it uses.
