For the money, I felt it was a missed opportunity, and not having 3 full seats in the rear when you have no transmission/exhaust tunnel or fuel tank underneath,is unforgiveable. It should be an option at the very least.

Which makes it worse that they wasted all that space potential.

Look how much room Jonny's leg has at 2.35.

Drove my parents Hyundai ioniq yesterday. Surprisingly nice interior, drove as expected (fine) But playing with the regen braking and coasting was a fun game I never expected.

I'd like a 64kwh Kona but the waiting list is daft, and I'm told Kia might be bringing something similar out and they have production numbers ready to meet demand.

Kona 64kwh has 200hp equivalent and 300 mile range btw. Adequate.

One thing which always intrigues me is that having a larger battery capacity seems to make EVs quicker. That’s like a petrol car getting faster because the manufacturer fits s bigger fuel tank. Is it because they allow the battery to discharge faster on higher capacity models, or something to do with the maximum discharge rate per cell combined with a greater number of cells?

TO be fair, the average sized bloke, Jonny, seems fine. It is the larger chap who looks snug.

I suspect they feel safer adding a stronger motor to the bigger capacity versions yeah, you can get a 39kwh Kona but the power is halved-ish, so that would pan out there at least. I like the idea of the bigger one for that very reason, it means I'd have a car I can romp on without worrying about its range. 39kwh is about 180 miles range, which starts to come into range worrying range. 300 miles is close to what I get from the Civic and its not often I need that in one hit.

My original plan was to drop the Civic as part of a deposit but I'm starting to wonder if I should keep it for "fun" until it has a big bill and then decide what to do with it. It owes me nothing at this point and is largely worthless anyway.

Interesting if that's the case, as Hyundai own a big stake in Kia.

I wonder if the Kona uses the same floor pan as the Ioniq? A 64KWh Ioniq would for me, be more desirable than a small cross-over.

I’ve heard a few people who test drove the Kona praising it, so surprised to see that the reviews for it are a bit above average. I guess like every Hyundai the main selling point aside from the price will be the 5 year warranty.

Jonny Smith gave the Kona a good review on Fully Charged.

He’s almost as bad as Lispy Dick. I can’t bring myself to watch his stuff.

I just find him so boring that I end up fast forwarding his segments on 5th gear.
