Re: New Top Gear Presenters
Stunned. And not in a good way, and they're chuffin' Lankys. Bad day.

A tweet saying they're both massive car nerds on the Qt would help!

Maybe Tim Lovejoy is available to take over from CH?
Re: New Top Gear Presenters
Are Jason Dawe and Mike Brewer doing anything at the moment?
Re: New Top Gear Presenters
And Gino Di Campo. What a show that would be.
Can we get the kiss-scandal girl from Strictly as well, to be more diverse?

No, I know this. But at least I could understand why BBC Producers who don't understand Top Gear could've thought Evans would work. This time round they've simply looked at marketing report that says Freddie and Paddy appeal to really laddy blokes and that's the demographic we're going for, right?Rich B wrote: Mon Oct 22, 2018 9:12 amits not enough.NotoriousREV wrote: Mon Oct 22, 2018 9:06 amAt least Evans has a genuine interest in cars (without much knowledge).Rich B wrote: Mon Oct 22, 2018 9:02 am So we have only 1/3 of the team who know/have experience of anything about cars beyond the average person.
It’s bloody Chris Evans all over again.

They’re both apparently very big petrolheads, but so is Bill Cosby. I don’t think any of those three would be anywhere near the top of my list to actually front a car programme though.
Twitter has seen some very predictable responses but also some very funny ones.
Mr Harris should be front and centre, but I guess the Beeb want some “star” power to front it.

I didn't imagine they could find anyone that could be more annoying than Chris Evans but I may be proved horribly wrong with this.

Well, after a quick scan of their Instagram accounts, I find it hard to believe they are car geeks. I hope we are all wrong and Broccers is right...
Cheers,

Paddy did a car show recently and it was alright. He's an enthusiast but doesn't seem to be a very knowledgeable one. Freddie is a good lad, I can see it working.
Re: New Top Gear Presenters
It’s an entertainment show first and a car show second. It’s about time they stopped pretending otherwise.
So with this potentially becoming a typical BBC comedy, the Grand Tour coming to an end and Fifth Gear being consistently awful then car guys won’t have any big budget car shows.

How about not having a sig at all?

Paddy Mcquinness could be good. Watch the interview he did with john bishop and you'll see a totally different side to him than the no likey no lightey pantomime character.
Flintoff - less sure but lets give him the rope first and see how it goes.

I'd like to think the BBC know what they're doing, but given how Evans turned out there's no guarantee this won't be proper shit.
Re: New Top Gear Presenters
I saw that it was a good interview. I cannot say I have seen much of his output but my reaction is similar in that I am instinctively thinking that it will be bad Freddie and paddy are both a presence in front of the camera which arguably Rory never was so who knows, it might be a laugh, it will almost definitely still be better than 98% of programs on the box full stop.scotta wrote: Mon Oct 22, 2018 10:26 amIve been quite enjoying the new series of fifth gear.Mito Man wrote: Mon Oct 22, 2018 10:18 am It’s an entertainment show first and a car show second. I noticed there was a video on Carfection the other day about Rory joining them. I haven't watched it but does it confirm whether he's definitely been sidelined?

Re: New Top Gear Presenters
I'm not even going to bother with it TBH, I've given up on the broadcast channels doing good motoring content. Everything I watch is on Youtube or the Motortrend app.
