I occasionally forget I'm in work and will open WhatsApp in work and have to quickly hide a closeup of someone's genitals.

I don't use what's app regularly, but until very recently I thought this kind of dodgy shit had died a death years ago. Then a friend showed me their whatsapp and I quickly learned I was very, very wrong.NotoriousREV wrote: Thu Jul 19, 2018 3:33 pmI occasionally forget I'm in work and will open WhatsApp in work and have to quickly hide a closeup of someone's genitals.Matty wrote: Thu Jul 19, 2018 2:48 pmWould never dream about putting Whatapp on my works phone, I'd be sacked before the week was out.NotoriousREV wrote: Thu Jul 19, 2018 1:03 pm WhatsApp is where I have to keep reminding certain friends that the extreme porn laws in the UK are quite strict and I really, really don't want that shit on my work phone.
One of my mates keeps posting clips from the SimplyLovleh brotherhood or something like that. It's just....wrong. all kinds of wrong.
i think that’s the thing that I really don’t understand - why would you want 26k followers?JLv3.0 wrote: Sat Jul 21, 2018 8:18 am For the likes, retweets, recognition and attention. Obvs.
In fact the amount of attention it's possible to generate is quite amazing. A friend of mine posts up random travel pics on Instagram - nothing special really or even that interesting.

I genuinely don't know, mate. I just don't get it.Rich B wrote: Sat Jul 21, 2018 8:48 ami think that’s the thing that I really don’t understand - why would you want 26k followers?JLv3.0 wrote: Sat Jul 21, 2018 8:18 am For the likes, retweets, recognition and attention. Obvs.

Ah OK. She's a digital marketer so may have a plan. Or she might not. Either really.Mito Man wrote: Sat Jul 21, 2018 9:49 am You can whore yourself out to some companies for free shit or advertising when you have that many followers.
so is that what every single person who uses hashtags is trying to do? Seems unlikely.Mito Man wrote: Sat Jul 21, 2018 9:49 am You can whore yourself out to some companies for free shit or advertising when you have that many followers.
Not everyone but if you have 20,000 followers then probably. There was a whole thing in the news about people with such accounts asking hotels and other firms for free stays or products in return for posting photos and good reviews on Instagram.
seems a lot of dicking about typing a load of shit after your posts just in case you suddenly get a massive amount of followers. I still don’t get it.Mito Man wrote: Sat Jul 21, 2018 10:36 amNot everyone but if you have 20,000 followers then probably. People search on Instagram for photos they’re interested in. If you tag up your pics, it makes it easy for them to get found.
its not either of those - I don’t get why you’d want other random people to find your photos? I 100% get sharing photos with people you know, but why do I want people elsewhere to see them?NotoriousREV wrote: Sat Jul 21, 2018 1:41 pmPeople search on Instagram for photos they’re interested in. On Twitter, the same applies but instead it’s subjects people may want to discuss.
There’s not really a lot else to get. It’s not hard really, is it?
I personally don’t get this modern fashion of wilful or faux ignorance.
