So LG are gathering information in my viewing habits and selling that data for profit ??

Does this only apply when I'm using an LG App or can they also tell what I'm watching on Sky Q ?? I only watch Paramount+ on the LG because for some reason, it won't play ball on Sky Q

Nearly every company make money out of collecting as much data as possible about the viewing habits on the app/device they have access to, but I'm also wary of having stuff with unnecessary connections to the internet. Just from the point of view of security. There's very few companies I trust with data and to address security exploits quickly.

They all do it. I gave up worrying about signing into things and accepting EULA's a long time ago. I think Google knows more about me than I do at this point.

You either just roll with it and accept your just a product, or just join the Amish.

On our Sony it's the 'Samba' service. Just disagree to the T&C's for it and then disable the app from running to be sure. I'm sure Google does the same but at least Sony's own efforts will be thwarted.

In terms of stuff uploading your data I’ve got a few good ones I’ve discovered over the years. A Meross smart switch was somehow consuming 10gb a month (apparently stuck in a firmware downloaded doom loop but I don’t believe it as it worked totally fine). A PTZ camera which recorded locally on SD card only was consuming 60gb a month so I think it was uploading constantly to the cloud.

I imagine there’s plenty more but I have a dedicated 4g router which only has a few switches and cameras connected to it so I am aware of these.

To be fair they live longer, are healthier, happier, more fertile 😂

I'm the same to be honest - life's too short...
