So you can hang them outside!

Though a fair point in this country!

Ours will stay latched without power, did think about a smart plug but that relies on the last person using it to leave it armed.

It’s no biggie, would just be nice to have it hot and ready by the time I make it downstairs in the morning. Don’t drink anything fancy, just a standard builders strength breakfast.

IanF wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 6:14 pmQuookers are good though, and I think you can get cheaper alternatives now for £3-500.. Green tea with 85oC water is much better than 100oC though, breakfast has to be higher than 90.. @Gavster a subject for you to get creative with maybe?
Quookers take up a huge amount of space though

Is it for tea or coffee? If it’s for coffee a filter machine with a timer is easy enough to use, it’s what I put on

Exactly this! Which is why I have a washing machine as a bedside table on one side and a tumble dryer on the other. No need for clothes to leave the bedroom now 8-)

Inspired. Maybe add an air fryer on the coffee table so you don't have to get off the sofa to eat chips.

And if you set the timer appropriately, straight into warm pants and socks - can probably cut back on the central heating too.

Get pets then you don't need a smart kettle. Get up, put kettle on and then let dog out. Feed cats, let dog back in. Kettle boiled!

Don't get too many pets or, like me, the water in the kettle will be cool and you'll have to re-boil after doing this

What you need is a kettle with some kind of smart function that can act as a timer...oh

In the whole history of the forum I think this wins "most pointless" thread. Rivalled only closely by the latest FECPOTY.

In response to the OP, how about a Russell Hobbs Velocity? It does 0-100 in 38 seconds, making it the fastest boiling kettle on the market.
