Levels of shitholeness are weird. The Abbey Farm estate in Thetford is notorious around here for being a dump, in the top 10 most deprived places in England, yet street view it and it looks fine. I lived in the midlands for several years through uni and drove through plenty of far more threatening looking places. Most seaside towns have worse streets, seen places full of rubbish, dumped cars, boarded up houses etc.
I don’t really like London or see the attraction of visiting tbh.
My mrs went to new York a couple of weeks ago and said it had changed and made her appreciate how good we have it in the uk.
I live next to Govanhill which if you listen to some is one of those “no go areas” for white people and it’s fine.
It is deprived and I think that, the high immigrant population and the fact that it was Sturgeon’s constituency made it a target for idiots and racists to make shit up about.

This - there's so much hysteria about this type of thing - you can't focus on one particular area as a representative sample of the city as a whole. Put it this way - Los Angeles Skid Row is 0.4 square miles but the city as a while is over 500 square miles.

I have to go to London on the semi regular for courses, usually in the Marylebone area.
It is too busy and there are too many people and I don't like it. The morning train from Cambridge is rammed, and then you get off and there are just people everywhere. People!
However there are some nice bits. I stayed at the Royal College which is a hideous building but it is on Regents Park and a morning run around the park was lovely, with greenery and giraffes. A friend took me to the Oxford and Cambridge Club and walking back at 11 up Pall Mall / St James' is lush. These are mostly the bits without too many people.
So I think crowded rat race London is awful but once the crowds clear it ain't so bad. Probably a place where there are no crowds in the first place is better though.

Got into an altercation with a man at Portman St as he was being really rude to a security guard, then had a megaphone blasted in my ear as some people protested outside of a Radisson hotel.
Fun!
It's a nicer vibe today though despite the rain.

I go into London probably on average once a month either to go to the office or to go for beers. It's always great.

yep, i went into london last week - tube to euston and walked to Dishoom in king’s cross. The new development at Coal Drops Yard in King’s cross is a lovely place to be on a warm night and the walk to and from was very pleasant.

That's where we went in the summer as it wasn't far from the BBQ place we went to. Pretty interesting area.

Something pissed me off last week. I understand the obvious reasons for it but it’s kinda ridiculous in the grand scheme of things.
Got off the overground at Shepherds Bush, it was raining so I had a weatherproof jacket with hoodie up… Go into Westfield and the security guy shouts “no hoodies”. The ridiculous bit is if you know the demographics of the area then you’re in a minority if you’re not covered up from head to toe.

I had a wander around there while waiting for my wife, so much has changed in that area now.
