Having already met Mrs Mik, I don't think she'll be surprised or deterred.IanF wrote: Fri Jul 04, 2025 6:42 pmUntil she meets the people her hubby spends too long talking bollox with!..![]()

A mini meet ? Jobbo - you fancy it ?
Re: ftao Lahndahners
He’s getting you to walk through the Mayfair Red light district…
Re: ftao Lahndahners
The Drawing Room in The OWO is a great spot for breakfast (book in advance).IanF wrote: Fri Jul 04, 2025 12:37 pm Mercato Mayfair is a fun stop.. good beer and wine, plus lots of small pop up restaurants over 3 levels (basement has great sushi) for a very reasonable price. Berkeley Sq has all the usual, expensive but not overly good places if you want to play tourist - hakkasan is the best there imho. Best recommendation for a special dinner is Kioku by Endo, which is a Japanese restaurant on top of the new Raffles in the Old War Office building.. you can see Downing Street from there.
I used to use it as my morning office space when we were working in the apartments there! Generally very friendly staff and good bacon.

It isn't a joke! It was once a red light district, but it's not anymore, you go to the Dorchester bar on Park Lane if you want a sex worker
Shepherd Market is a historic part of Mayfair, it was once a market and is now the backstreets lined with bars/restaurants where people who work around Mayfair/Piccadilly go for drinks after work to get away from the tourists.

On the other hand, it is a tradition to tell tourists that the stairs are genuinely quicker at Covent Garden
but Jobbo wasn't in on that joke

Re: ftao Lahndahners
I’d be up for a meet, but my “end of July” is currently in Manchester, New York, Guernsey and Orlando.. once we have a specific date I’ll hopefully be able to attend
Cheers,
Ian

Re: ftao Lahndahners
It would be great but I’m either away or doing things - all my weekends in July are booked up. Bit mean to impose a full Evo beer meet on Mrs Mik though
Having said that we probably ought to arrange one…
Re: ftao Lahndahners
Admittedly I haven’t spent much time in the evening in Mayfair for a few years, but the doors were still left ajar with pink lights on in the windows around 2014/5.Gavster wrote: Fri Jul 04, 2025 10:45 pm It isn't a joke! When I was running a dealership on Park Lane we would often meet up with the Berkeley Square dealers for a drink at the Mayfair Bar and it was hilarious watching the call girls collect their clients from the bar!Gavster wrote: Fri Jul 04, 2025 10:45 pm It isn't a joke! On that note, Angus Steakhouses are absolutely bangingGavster wrote: Fri Jul 04, 2025 12:05 pmAnd remember, the stairs are quicker than the lift at Covent Garden tube station.
The Evo forum really is a shadow of its former self. I remember when the internet was for the elite and now they seem to let any spastic on
