You worry me, Mike - I fear your Dakar may not stay forever as I had anticipated

No need to worry, it's not going anywhere for the foreseeable future! I keep wondering how to justify a roof tent for it

The number of shonky old soft-roaders I see with a Tentbox on top these days, parked outside the supermarket in the Midlands

If that's really the last RWD and non hybrid proper M car it could be a sensible purchase. All properly downhill from here for the M brand.

Is an M2 supposed to be elegant?
Yes. Or does sporty need to be really shouty? 1M wasn’t so in-yer-face for example.

And I'm guessing the UK allocation will all be gone already to influencers and best customers at dealers, just like the M3 Touring CS. Even Joe Achilles couldn't get one.

There was a chap picking up his M2 CS yesterday; it was under a sheet when I arrived but he was in and out in no time. I did get to see and hear it. It was Velvet Blue, an Individual colour option but in fact the only Individual option available on the CS according to the configurator; no wonder there are so many in that colour in photos online. Considering the other colour options are Brooklyn Grey, Black Sapphire or Portimao Blue (all free) or Velvet Blue at £4385 I'm slightly surprised anyone paid for that; black would definitely go better with the gold wheels.
I hadn't realised they were in short supply; I have found one for £30k over list for sale registered in mid-March so perhaps the buyer was flipping it. He wasn't given the separate collection bay, just a space in the normal showroom next to a 1-series
