Am I the only one who is going to be really disappointed that the Peugeot pepper grinder is just a fancy pepper mill and isn’t in the shape of a 205 gti?

I don't really want "things" so I got some various booze and chocs mostly

Helen got me a bottle of this, which I may crack open later...

#05 FEW SPIRITS
SUNSHINE IN A GLASS
This Rye Whiskey, finished for 3 years in a Sauternes cask, is like a warm ray of sunshine through the window on a cold day. Sure to bring a smile to any American whiskey fan.

I wasn't

I had the Peugeot Maestro which is a contemporary looking upright on the table type. Comes with interchangable base jars with lids if you want to use it for white pepper etc

The quality is what you'd expect at those prices and as someone previously alluded to would make a serious projectile!

£170 for a pepper grinder?

How far does one have to get down the "I own everything" list before they get to £170 pepper grinders?!

We got delivered 25kg of ground pepper in the wrong size once. I'd have happily paid that for a machine to regrind to the correct size - if it lasts for 25kg!

I got a very silly set of half gloves with bright LEDs built in to the knuckles which were immediately banned from the house because I wouldn't stop pretending to be ironman.

They have proven quite useful fiddling around behind the computer with hard to see cords, so not that silly after all.

And a copy of the novelised version of William Gibson's unfilmed Alien3 script which I am thoroughly enjoying. OG Alien cubed can go to hell.

I received a fair bit of Lego but the things I really loved are:
- "The Spectrum" - a retro machine in a facsimile 48k rubber-keyed Spectrum case. I already use my Mac Mini for retro gaming and emulation very successfully but I'm going to put this in a bedroom with a small-ish TV (22") and maybe stick my PS1 and Game Cube in there as well, for some nostalgia. I have all the electronics already now; I just need the furniture
- The Beefy Boys' cookbook/burger porn. Wanted this since it was released but resisted buying because I knew my wife would buy it as a gift.
- Chris Harris's book, Variable Valve Timings. Yes, I know it came out in 2023 and has been on my Amazon wishlist since before it was published but nobody had bought it for me. I mentioned it to my wife so she got it for me. But not from my wishlist, so my sister bought it for me as well from there, and Amazon sent her two copies and she gave me both - meaning I received three copies for Christmas but only from two people  I have found one good home for a copy and dropped it off with @speedingfine yesterday, but if anyone else would like a copy message me :)

They are "Lashlight" sic? brand? There's a billion very similar ones on Amazon. They look like this https://www.amazon.com.au/GeeRic-Rechar ... B0BP241223

Usb rechargeable (although not had to charge them yet) with LEDs on thumb and index fingers.

They pair well with my LED "safety" glasses from the Mrs last Christmas. She knows me well

No-one has ever received a flashlight, LED related tool without enjoying it. You can never have too many!

I got a great So Ill Momoa hoody, an art photography book by my friend Alex Boyd and a few other small bits - these were all gifts I asked for and actually bought for myself on behalf of the Mrs. She got me an eye mask (to help with my regular eye infections) and a foot spa thing to assist with foot injury. So basically ran out of ideas that weren't 'make like a doctor.'

I did however, take a gamble on a present for her, which paid off thankfully. I don't know how many of you follow the Type7 IG account, the Porsche lifestyle blog basically? They've featured Kaikado tea caddies hand made in Japan a few times, and I went for it, despite their very high cost. I'm pleased to say they're very much loved, but also excellent objects. We both spent most of Xmas day just touching them - they're objects of desire in their own right. If any of you have been tempted, I can recommend them.

I have, in a similar style, a Boobies mug, which I inadvertantly have brought to several Zoom meetings!
