Our roundabouts in the UK do not have symmetrical entry and exit geometry - they're designed to slow entry and ease exit). So you would have to upgrade almost all (non-mini) roundabout junctions.

That wouldn't be a problem, people don't know how to use them and failing to navigate is far from uncommon so the street furniture already needs replacing. No, what'll doom the idea are drivethroughs.

Km/h won't happen because of Brexit, but that doesn't mean we can't change fuel economy figures to kmpg.

I have Waze etc set to imperial but HATE when it mentions Yards or Feet.

I could happily switch to km/kph though. I’m less certain about l/100km just cos I think it’s a shit metric.

PS - Ireland did it without massive problems. It can be done.
With motorcycles, they quote fuel economy in kilometers per litre, which is less of a shit metric than l/100km.

One is consumption, one is efficiency. They’re both valid.

They give the same info. I don't have any issues with km per litre - it's the random "100" in l/100km that grates, as its just there to make the number look more "readable" or "understandable" or some shit.

We don't quote temperature rise in DegC/3hrs or calorie burn as calories/37minutes.

If l/per km somehow provides "hard to understand" numbers, then don't use it. Use ml/km or any other metric that doesn't include a (stoopid) random constant.

Talking of numbers, you can get fucked if I'll ever measure torque in Nm....

Is that some sort of Scottish measurement? Like Nm/Dram?

No one is going to get excited the first time they hit 100kph. 160kph doesn’t have quite the same ring to it.

I think the euro equivalent is 200kph, in Germany at least.
Is 100mph still a thing anyway, what with "speed kills" and the vast majority of cars able to do it?

I wonder what effect on tourism driving on the opposite side to most of the rest of Europe has?

Not much compared to any other UK quirks if say. Cornwall a couple of weeks ago was teeming with Europeans, especially Germans (although I gather they have a German language period TV series that's filmed there - watched them filming a few years back, which was weird)

I meant in a positive way, how much does it add to the draw?

It's not the side of the road we drive on that could put them off. We once had a house guest from North America who said they were going to whizz down to Cornwall to see a friend and then head up to the North, then back to London. They figured it was only ~250 miles on each leg so would be a quick and easy journey in the car

I work in a couple of hospitals.
Hospital A uses dopamine as its main cardiac support drug.
Hospital B uses milrinone.

Milrinone has better evidence and is probably a better drug. But the nurses, doctors, support staff and so forth in hosptial A are so used to dopamine, that were we to switch, we would have to brace for a several month drop in performance before seeing any improvements.

So we continue with no-hopeamine....

If the Ireland can make the switch from Miles to Kilometers then anyone can.

Metric measurements after brexit? Nigel Farage's hackles just came up in his sleep like a Jack Russell having a bad dream.
