I suspect ST may be a Ford trademark now. Hence the S/T.
ah yes, maybe they're following ford naming traditions now. The RS is the range topper, the ST is an every day sporty one, the S is mid range, then presumably there's going to be a "popular" or maybe "active" base spec one due soon? Jobbo can hold out for the "ghia" spec.
Vignale, please.

Basically, it's a shit name.
I think you'll find it's a name that evokes powerful synergies, playfully echoing back with a nod to the iconic : inspired by paying homage to the (respectfully) re-imagined classic names.
Ker-ching: that'll be £250,000 please.

Take the piss but no one is sticking a forward slash in there for no good reason

Sounds like it’s worse on track and worse on the road. Nice

On maybe it's like in poetry where the slash is a new line, so it's really a:
911 S
T
Porsche haiku.
Models come and go
But 911 remains
Until all cars die

I've fallen into this elephant trap in a minor way myself...

Those all sound like lovely stories, but did the old 1969 ST ever have the very odd forward slash in their name? That's the weird bit that stops it being an "ST" and makes it an "S or a T" depending on something else presumably?
Nerd note. If you go to the Porsche Newsroom and download the press pack, the way the 'title' of the pack is shown is broken by the '/' so you get one half of the name in the parent directory, the second half a layer down in the child directory starting from '/ T...'
I'd have thought a bunch of highly paid digital types would have opened their fucking eyes before pushing that to the website... Press pack does have some good desktop images for free though.
Also I'm not sure I get the complaining - those in the know state the GT3 Touring may be a bit much for the road, so they release one more road orientated and everyone says 'nah you've broke it more' just because it has RS front wings and 2.7 more BHP? A more road biased touring with shorter ratios sounds a fucking great idea to me.

The GT3 Touring is right for the road. The GT3 RS isn’t. So adding the RS specific bits (suspension, not just front wings) to the Touring doesn’t immediately look like it’ll improve matters.
Of course, if it is actually better on the road that would be great. Except the price has gone up 40% and it’s a limited edition.

everyone uses RS - Audi, Jaguar, ford, Porsche, Renault, etc...
ST isn't exclusively Ford either - pretty sure Peugeot used it?

I'm not sure about a Peugeot car (SW GT?), probably a scooter (o/t Speedfight is still an excellent name). SEAT used ST for estates, and after the Panamera and Taycan maybe Porsche didn't want people to think they'd brought out a 911 Avant (though with M3 and M5 Tourings now would be the time for one).

I remember XT back in late 80s early 90s, ST does ring a bell but I cannot plcae it with specific car.
Surely this is the 911 Slashty? Looks nice but I shall not be trading in the Mini!
