Saw one in the showroom in Park Lane. Didn't look bad at all.

There were some really competitive lease deals on these and the Emira recently but looks like it's fallen apart with the funder. Hopefully it won't sink Lotus

Yeah - looks like it's not their fault, but it sure makes Lotus look silly and will undoubtedly lose them a few sales.

I read on the forum that it's the EVs that are impacted by this more than the Emira

That's why Auto100 have about 25 Emira's for sale thats just arrived then.

100 mile Emira V6 first editions for £62,500 looks like a great deal for what is effectively a brand new car.

They do, and an AMG 4-cyl is also tempting for a similar price. The thing is, I don't regret not buying one at all.

£20k less than late Evora?

If the factory keeps pumping them out and not many people want them. Emira and Evora owners don’t seem to have much overlap either currently.

There's an Emira with 16k on for sale, privately - he's gonna struggle for £58k, when there are dealer cars with a fraction of the mileage and the same price. I checked, and Motorway are offering £52k on that.

I can't see deprecation doing anything other than flattening now - in the £50k range they start to look like a massive bargain considering what £50k gets you these days - but like @Jobbo mentioning he doesn't regret it, quite a few people were disappointed in their test drives and ended up buying something else.

They do look a bargain at that sort of price. They feel much more quality item than an A110.

I really wanted a manual for my weekend fun car, and I don’t think the Emira’s manual box and clutch are that nice - the clutch in particular has a long travel which meant I had to have the seat further forward than I would otherwise need to. I didn’t try and auto, and there is a choice of two entirely different autos; if I had been buying for more everyday use I’d have been very happy going for one or other of those I’m sure. But I can’t say I would willingly lose the top down pure mechanical lightweight buzz of the MX5 in preference when just going for a drive.

Saw a green one up this way last week and it looks pretty good. I mean, it kind of looks like any other car of its type but is different enough to have decent presence and a bit of character.

There seems to be such bad word of mouth on them in terms of reliability and the depreciation is going to be staggering. Lotus customer service seems to be pretty crap too? Is that a new thing? Or have I just watched too many Jay Emm videos?

It's also another car where there's so much computer tech onboard which is critical to the running of the car that I don't know how you could ever trust it? Maybe that's because I've worked in technology all my life, but frankly, f*ck that.

I was listening to someone talking about their Rivian recently and the car wouldn't start. It was taken to the dealer and they had to "reboot" it a few times to get it going. Again, as someone who works in technology, that is frightening. Old cars are the way to go I reckon.

They're fairly bland to my eyes. Apart from being FUCKING MASSIVE of course..

I see them about due to being at HEC fairly regularly and I still don't know who is buying them, or what question a Lotus owner might have that this answers.

Other than maybe how can I lose this massive pile of money.

Reading some complaints on Teh Loltus Forum today about the alloy wheel insurance people have taken out not actually doing much as the wheels are often deemed irreparable.

Apparently the 23" rim option below (which I think is a £4k option) isn't conventionally diamond-cut - the spokes are actually milled to get the complex "diamond-cut" surfaces. So even places with proper diamond-cut refurb capabilities can't refurb them.

Edit: this is of particular concern to those who have leased…. Looks like they’ll just have to swallow whatever punishment the lease co applies when the car goes back.

Irrespective of them being a bugger to repair, the alloy wheel insurance should cover replacement if required. Particularly if sold by the Lotus dealer with the car!

I only read with passing interest tbh, but it sounds like a right mess. There was a std Lotus insurance agreement that's now been dropped and insurance is only now offered by the dealerships, that the wheels can't be repaired, but there is a clause that they won't be replaced unless there is structural damage..... looks like the "solution" being offered may be to have all (including undamaged) wheels conventionally refurbed - losing the diamond-cut finish.
