Did I see something about nuclear power being reclassified as reneable/green and so subject to Govt support?

About bloody time someone started taking baseload seriously, and presumably in response to the UKR/RF situation.

Only forty years too fucking late, mind.

Something something awards for people designing mini/modular plants, too?

Nuclear power to be reclassed as 'environmentally sustainable'

Nuclear power will be classed as “environmentally sustainable” which will give it access to the same investment incentives as renewable energy.
He also launches "Great British Nuclear" aimed at bringing down the costs of producing nuclear power.
He says he is launching a competition for small modular reactors - and says the government will co-fund the technology if it is found to be viable.

While I don't think the lifetime allowance for pensions has ever been particularly justified, removing the allowance completely is going to have unintended conseqences. People will be able to grow their pension to over £1m sooner with the increased annual allowance of £60k, so there's quite a possibility of retiring earlier not working longer as intended.

I thought the government had already invested a bunch in the Rolls Royce small modular reactors years ago. Or are they at the point of forgetting things and rechurning old shit?

Saw the early headlines about childcare last night, our nursery has just put it up to £1300 a month for us and we have a two year old so it sounded pretty bloody exciting on first glance.

Just found it's not implemented for ages so ours will be three anyway, so Hunt can FRO. Everyone is a cunt and I hate everyone.

Potentially, although I know lots of people who have reduced their working hours as they have (or had) reached the max allowance. I’d like to hope the gov has researched this, but this feels like it’s purely about removing one claim from why Doctors stop working early, and who trusts experts anyway!?

Sounds like it's basically to promote setting up the facility rather than any actual payments towards it. We use it for my boy (drop him off at 8 rather than 8:40, pick him up at 4:30 rather than 3:15) - it's run in the school but by an external company.

Ours is the same, community run but in the school itself, we pay for 7:30-8:45 and 3:15-5:30 but he normally goes 8:10 - 4 or 5 each day.

I dont know how much we pay now, but its not cheap.

Plan A is to reshuffle the wife's 4 day week from a single day off to take care of the child to shorter working days 5 days a week. No idea if her company will be receptive yet though, and she's expected in the office one day a week which we will need to cover somehow.

Childcare stuff is shit if you don't have family nearby. We're fortunate that grandparents do school pick ups 5 days a week as I'm away a lot and my wife has a good job she wouldn't otherwise have been able to do.

Even years ago when we used nursery and got some of the free childcare we had to pay to top up as the Giv rate wasn't enough. It's a bloody fortune to use nurseries.

There's no fucking way nuclear power is "Environmentally sustainable"

It is a necessary evil, much like most of the other forms of power generation...

It’s more short term thinking though. New nuclear will help them hit their 2030 targets but long term it’s as big an environmental problem as fossil fuels.
