Wait, there's heated cupholders available in cars now?

Can I chuck BMW an extra couple of hundred quid a month to enable them as a feature?

Heated and cooled! Not sure which models have the option for it though.

Fancy times! Sounds like something that'll be on the X5 & 7 series first then trickle down.

My new car doesn't even have the option of cooled seats, so talk about living in the dark ages.

I'd take the piss, but I've just bought a £140 power bank with a capacity of 24a (yes, 24000mah) that can charge and discharge at 140w.

I don't even have a charger capable of that, so it's currently charging at a measly 85w from my laptop charger (which @DeskJockey is the same one you have for your T480S - didn't know it went that high).

Main use case is for when I eventually get back into going out to see people far away, it's one less power adapter to pack, specifically thinking about the laptop but seeing as near everything I use is USB-C now and it has huge capacity it should see me for a long weekend sleeping on someone elses couch.

It also has a trickle charge mode for things that don't draw enough current to keep most power banks going (IE smartwatch). Which is nice.

This, if anyone is interested in something that's actually useful and doesn't have an equivelant that costs £15

You can get 135w chargers from Lenovo if you want (at least that used to be the case).

Can you run a kettle from that, Bean?

Sadly not, although Anker do a line of lipo based 240v mains power banks that you could run over 2kw out of.

Little bit more pricey though

I bought a similar power bank about 5 years ago but mainly because it had a jump start function which I wanted for driving in Europe which I can say works very well to this day. It was only about £80 and dual USB 2 and Micro USB but looking online they're USB C as well now.

By now they're probably fairly high power, too. You could run a macbook off one for an entire day, I'd wager, before falling back to the internal battery.

This'll replace a couple of older power banks and a laptop charger so I'm fairly comfy with my choice. I don't need a jump starter now that I've replaced the car battery

I will say Anker is a well made brand and much less likely to spontaneously combust unlike my Shenzhen special

Heat a mug, phone and start your car lol

This just makes me want to grab my Thermapen and chart how quickly the temperature of my coffee actually drops, in a normal mug.

You should try multiple different mugs @JonMad. It would make a lovely spreadsheet / graph. :D

Is it the output capacity that differentiates this from other 24,000 and 30,000 mAh units that cost neared £40 ?

Yeah, I think they top out about 40 or 65w, this will do over double that.

Gotcha - I've got a few 22.4k mAh ones and I'm not sure they'd charge anything larger than an iPad.

They're only USB3 Output anyway - USBC and USB Micro input for charging but USB3 output only

They'd charge an iPad, but this thing would charge two of them at the same time, as fast as they're capable of being charged, I'd imagine.
