I went to silverstone in 2000 and was right alongside the grid. When those 20 V10's took off the noise was phenomenal.
I've always said you need to see F1 cars in the flesh to really appreciate them but my preference would be to go to a test day. I went to one in the V8 era and another in the current hybrid era at silverstone, it was about 20 quid to get in and you could go everywhere.
I prefer watching the races on TV from the comfort of my home, but of course you miss the atmostphere and experience of being there live, if thats what you're after.
