We have electric recliners - both sofas. Wouldn't be without them to be honest. It's so much better than laying sideways on the sofa with your feet up.

This - Trendy modern sofas can ask my hoop. Mates have one which looks like it's right out a corporate foyer. IT looks very nice but the back is vertical and about 12 to 15 inches high. You can't slouch, you can't get comfortable - all you can do is sit bold upright. IT's horrible and he spent a fortune on it.

Sofas need to have a back high enough that you can rest your head on it and still be able to look forward enough to char or watch TV

I never lie down on the sofa. For me sofa is for sitting on, bed is for lying down and sleeping on. Hence these new fangled electric reclining sofas make no sense to me.

Bingo. This is EXACTLY what we think. Why buy a sofa that looks nice but is uncomfortable? You should be able to rest your head on the backrest. We went around with a tape measure to find the highest backed sofa when we bought ours.
