More like Shuanghuan auto have give up copying a first gen x5 and decided to copy a 2 series

The render looks ok, although the front end looks much less aggressive than the current model.

The spy shots of the real thing make it look like one of those memes on the line of "what you get if you order a BMW M2 from Wish."

The sides of the car look really flat and bland too compared to the current model although its hard to tell if that's the colour and/or crappy pictures.

The more they try and change the grille from the more traditional kidneys the more the cars look like Pontiacs.

Well the looks aren't quite as bad as they looked on the white one (except the front arches that don't have any gills - maybe they'll get added on the comp?) so that's not too bad, but 237kg extra weight! So now it needs another 50bhp to go the same speed as the old one.

1700kg for a 'small' coupe.

Goodness.

The weight increase really isn't good is it? That's pretty much the same as an M3 Competition isn't it?

The back-end above the exhaust really doesn't look right to me. I think the angles of the spy shots made it look worse, but not by much, it still looks too angular, jarring, almost like there's a bit missing above it? Especially when you look at the back straight on.

Nice to see the manual option and RWD, but weird its not a "competition" spec and its a shame to see the carbon fibre strut brace gone, but that new triangle seems to be the standard approach for all their cars. Presumably there will be a competition model coming along at some point.

I guess the price is what it is... has this just been a gradual trend in line with inflation, or is it partially down to the amount of tech going in to these cars now or supply issues etc?

Looks awful, and 1775kg for a small 2wd coupe with no hybrid stuff seems absurd.

Do not want.

Last M2 the last decent looking bmw ever?

As one of the tweets on there says, that's the same weight as the old M2 with an S1000RR and rider in the boot...

I just can't work out how the fuck they've managed to add that much weight? Densest car evaaaaaarrrrr.

Just saw the short official BMW vid about it on instagram. Apparently it has the best dynamics ever but the chap didn’t mention the weight
You can buy a bunch of carbon fibre stuff like roof and seats to save a few kg

Pretty certain that’s more than a single motor Model 3 weighs which is a bigger car so it’s not just ludicrously overweight for a petrol car but also firmly in EV territory.

My E46 weighs less than that FFS, and it's an (ostensibly) larger car with a heavy folding roof mechanism and extra bracing.

the new M2 is 90mm longer and 100mm wider than an e46 conv.

The old M2 is basically e46 sized (obviously wider and faster!)

It's perverse psychology; they're making the ICE heavier to lessen the gap to EVs for marketing. "Early EVs used to weigh 500kg more than ICE, with our advanced tech we've reduced that to only 100kg, about the same as having your mum as a passenger" or some similar poop.

No doubt smaller inside because crash structures etc, though.
