Bizarrely there is someone removing no entry signs on the gates of Balmoral live on BBC1.

On the plus side, Morrissey and Marr will be able to afford their heating bill this winter.

All her kids are either at or on the way to Balmoral, even the sweatless nonse because they all have to swear fealty to Charles. William and Harry are both on their way too.

BBC1 is rolling news until 6pm so expect the announcement then.

Yeah. She's been a constant, for many people around the world, and through so many world events, and has always remained dignified, even when her own family members have been arseholes. She's like a global Grandma figure. It's remarkable to think that there are people now drawing their state pensions that weren't even born when she acceeded to the throne.

There is an interview with Danny Boyle on Graham Norton where he tells the story of the Olympic opening ceremony. They floated the idea of the sketch to the palace that they would have a look a like portray here in the scene. She insisted that she do it personally then insisted on speaking as well.

There's a bit of a buzz here at work at the moment. I suspect she's already died and there's a news blackout.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

She'll only get one day off, and it'll likely be the monday or tuesday after next.

Gotta mourn, innit.

I think London bridge only applies if she does in England. It's something different if she dies in Scotland?

A friend of the wife suggests that protocol says they wait till 7pm to announce?

Sad moment but the way the whole thing is happening is a bit odd. If she's already dead then what's with the delay for relaying the news - it's not like its unexpected for a 96 year old to pass. If she's still alive then it's all getting rather distasteful now as all the media are circling her palaces like vultures waiting for her to die.
How about not having a sig at all?

The link specifically refers to 'United Kingdom' so makes no distinction. Protocol also seems to be 6pm, which is consistent with the BBC suspending the normal schedule until 6pm.

I'm quite impressed that Huw Edwards and Nicholas Witchell keep talking without referring to her in the past tense by accident.

While we wait for 6pm, there's just time to watch something on Youtube. "The Queen is dead!" Not my words, the words of Alan Partridge:

Well, for one there's a strict protocol in place that has been inplace for a very long time. Secondly, aren't they still waiting for Harry to arrive? It's not unreasonable that all the family are able to gather first, privately, before it all kicks off. Then there's the "handover" that has to take place. It's all covered on the Wiki page.

Got to put plans in motion to deal with the crowds that are going to turn up in London. They reckon London will be ‘full’ for the first time ever,

There’s a specific set of protocols should it happen in Scotland which I’m guessing is just a subset of the UK on, I think it’s known as “Unicorn” but no idea how I know that.
Cheers,

Mike.
