Re: Good car/Bad car

My bestest car without a doubt my 205 GTi Skip Brown modified, total hoot to drive, quicker than any other hot hatch even 12 years newer and surprisingly smooth/progressive handling (could still lift off over steer, but with very little worry about snapping into ditch finding mode).
Honourable mention:
Rover 216 (Honda engine) 5 door - suprisingly nice drive, far more fun than my Mums similar aged Corolla or my Dads Cavalier, really nice tuned everyday suspension for UK roads, warmish performance from a good engine with nicely spaced gear ratios.

Worst car: Rover Metro 1.4 K series. Cross linked farts in a rubber bag suspension was utter terrible around sweeping corners and large roundabouts, potholes made the whole car wobble. In heavy rain on the M62 the engine bay would get wet and cause the engine start cutting out, ergonomics taken from a prison cell, dullest blue colour that could be mistaken for primer at a distance, brake pads that felt and smoked like pipe tobacco, styling cues taken from a 60's tower block. The engine might of been decent, but there was no way to actually find out, with rubbery throttle and gear linkages sloppier than a spoon in porridge. So bad, I think I got rid of it in 3 months.

Worst - F30 335i (2012)
Poorly built, woeful suspension showed that BMW has given in with making the 3 series a drivers car and despite internally being the size of the previous 5 series the rear seats were less comfortable than a 15 year old Fiesta we owned at the same time. 10 weeks and £4k loss later it had to go.

Best - Jag XFR
you never tire of the noise (through an aftermarket exhaust) and performance, but the ability to feel like a much smaller sports car when driven enthusiastically left the biggest impression. Similar age M5s and AMGs don’t come close for enjoyment.
