There's a time and place for most condiments, I'm not a fanatic about it. But Stoke's ketchup is superior to all others. Mustard should be used far more, and most BBQ sauces are too sickly sweet.

I've never liked Tomato Ketchup and this turned in a proper aversion when my sister started mixing it with mash to make it red. She's a fussy eater and it became a thing that she would only eat a meal smothered in ketchup

My wife isn't much better and is likely to squirt some on curry or a meat and gravy pie if pissed

Ketchup and mash is lovely 8-)

Otherwise, not something I eat much of tbh. I'm with mik on the bacon butty thing - ground pepper and nowt else (well, proper butter on the bread as well obvs).

Speaking of condiments - is HP Fruity still a thing? Not seen it for donkeys years.

Ketchup has its place but any sort of sausage, bacon, egg combo sandwich/roll must be brown sauce.

More often than not I use Holy Fuck or Christ on a bike when having a sauce requirement, especially when BBQ or smoker is involved.

I don't think any HP tastes as good as it used to - Heinz shifted production to the Netherlands and I'm sure changed the recipe at the same time.

I do have a bit of a thing for cheap tomato sauce, like Crucials' version. Slightly vinegary so it's a bit like a tomato sauce based version of the brown Scottish sauce from salt and sauce.

The greatest condiments imo, although I don't think either are avaialble anymore in the UK at least:

Heinz 57 Steak Sauce - like a BBQ-ey spicyier Tommy K

Patak's Curry Ketchup - this was horrifically addictive stuff. To the extent it became more a question of what was I having with my Curry Ketchup.

I love the A1 Steak Sauce which you get in the US, but more so in the US than here.

Correct again. Thanks to @Gavster for introducing me to this stuff, you can use it anywhere you might otherwise use ketchup. It's great.

I'll look out for that, this is also excellent in certain applications! Wouldn't be without a bottle:

If we're onto Chilli sauce then the only one you need is Mr Naga. It's hot with got an very distinctive flavour, you can more or less make a curry using it, it's a restaurant kitchen staple.

Your own brother seems to like the Maggi stuff which you recommended to him

Is that Mr Naga a bit of madly hot joke? Or is the naga heat tempered by other ingredients?

Nope. I'm not having that.

Straying even further from the red sauce debate, the wife recently got a jar of this. It is also highly addictive stuff, and I can't stand ordinary mayo

Image

Have pretty much finsihed the jar now and can conclude that there hasn't yet been a sandwich that hasn't been vastly improved by it.

Mr Naga is renowned amongst Indians for being a brilliant cooking ingredient, you’ll often find it in the kitchens of Indian restaurants. Sure, it is hot, however the Naga flavour is fantastic, it transforms anything you put it into. The Internet is full of curry recipes which use it to add flavour, it’s a game changer. https://greatcurryrecipes.net/2012/09/1 ... ken-curry/

EXTREMELY HOT! Due to its unique recipe, Mr Naga is prone to leak during transit however well we package it. Please be aware of this before placing an order. It will be perfectly fine to use.

I love Naga curry occasionally, but even I've got my doubts when it burns through all packing known to man
