Yeah, but it sounds like hard work, and fuck me I'm not up for that.
(Honestly, running is physically extremely uncomfortable because of the various wobbly bits that bounce around - if I drop a bit of fat it's something I might look into if it makes maintaining core strength simpler)
“You can’t outrun a bad diet”. If you want to lose a bit of initial timber before starting to exercise, look there first.
Yeah, that's something I've been working on, with more fresh veg cooked in the last six months than in my entire life, frankly. Quite like a bit of bell pepper in the air fryer, more light stir fries, etc. I've also added more eggs into regular rotation, although this week it has mainly been bread and cup a soups as I've not been able to stand much so slaving over a hot stove hasn't been an option
genuinely, even 'putting something in the oven for half an hour' is risky as the oven doesn't have a timer, and if I couldn't get back up from laying down (because standing for more than a minute or two was agonising) for a long time - then you're just left with ruined food and stinking the house out etc.
A cheap freezer would make it easier to keep frozen veg available (microwave veg packs are far better than no veg), but the fridge freezer in my kitchen is useless. I'll be looking at a cheap used chest freezer next payday as it would make planning cooking a lot easier. Fancy a stew? Frozen veg and beef in the freezer make that easy, and even I have stock cubes.
My appetite has dropped recently with the stress so as I'm having smaller portions than my usual 'heroic' ones, having healthier food for those (IE fresh sliced chicken in a stir fry rather than chicken nuggets with hummus

) is a no brainer really; I think I've mentioned earlier, I've dropped a belt notch in the last couple of months just from that, with literally nothing else done.
As I've noted elsewhere in other threads,
all of this apparent random failures to live sensibly can be rooted back to mental health issues and money issues, so questioning why I don't have a useful freezer is a pointless gesture - it is what it is, because it is.
And yes, I had half a codeine before going over to let the neighbors cat back in, hence the rambling

but I took that literally two minutes before the stretching noted earlier (in case I couldn't get up afterwards or pulled something like an idiot), and the effects were felt before that kicked in - so that's a very positive move.

Are you sure you took this much in one day, because in which case I would visit the dialysis unit after you are done with the dentist.
I usually go 400mg brufen 3 times a day (with meals) and paracetamol 1g four times a day. You can go a touch higher on the ibuprofen but you have to be careful as you will damage your stomach lining first and start to tickle your kidneys second. Go hard on painkillers is always my advice as pain itself sets up a vicious cycle of muscle spasm and inflammation that begets more pain.
Re diet: it’s quantity rather than quality that makes the odds for me. I never lost weight until I started calorie counting, then it started to fall off when I kept around 1000 cals a day.
Another vote for YouTube channels like body coach and fitness blender. They have quick workouts that are easy to integrate into your day, and low impact ones for people with joint troubles.

Yep that’s the amount, if I take 2x500mg of paracetamol they are having no affect after 2 hours, I take Ibuprofen every time I take the paracetamol.
Even at the dentists when I’m injected I can feel it all, it just takes the edge off but I could feel the pain of the nerves being removed. My sister is the same and so is my Dad, I had 3 injections last Monday into my mouth and I still felt it every time she was cleaning out the root etc.

Ibuprofen comes in 200-400mg tablets, I really wouldn’t take more than 800mg in one go and never go over 2400mg in a day on a regular basis. Toxbase says you have to get a dose of over 100mg / kg of body weight in one go to reach toxic levels; but taking a lot a day on a regular basis will lead to kidney dysfunction and gastric ulceration. If you’re needing a lot then it’s sensible to climb the pain ladder to codeine.
I like to use ketamine in patients who struggle to get good analgesia from conventional painkillers, but that is quite hard to get over the counter…

when I get a new job that pays better and let's me take actual time off
I say this with not a shred of cuntiness, when are you going to do that?
Interview with RealVNC today. Seemed to go pretty briskly and cheerily, and I managed to surprise them by asking them a question they'd not been asked before (work related, nothing to do with foxy fursuits)
Not bad considering an hour before I near fainted in the office (nasty cold, been feeling light headed all week, had to go in today to do the billing, etc) and had to head home for a lie down.

That does seem a lot for your average man but remember, Dave isn't your average man. He's more akin to a "slightly larger than normal" Kodiak Bear

Yep. There was a bloke who lived near the hospital I used to work in who bought Ibuprofen in a 1000 pill tub of 800mg tablets then would intermittently attempt suicide by gobbling the whole lot, being found by his wife and pitching up requiring dialysis.
This happened about 3 times.

Oh and I'm off the codeine now. Still got a muscular pain in my lower left back but it's not crippling me and I expect I can find a stretch to deal with it.
If not, self referral to a physio I guess

Second interview set up for the 12th
They've got someone with less experience who's just gone through the final interview stage who they really liked, and I might have gazumped them a bit
If they do really like this other guy (and I'm a fan of companies who like to train and mentor people), I might suggest that if they like me too, I could perhaps come on board as a random specialist tech/fixer, working on anything between evaluating the suitability of micro-services for some parts of the org (such as MFA, to handle load spikes), to making light up LED badges for conferences etc, rewriting documentation - I could do whatever, given more than 30 mins at a time to work on them, etc.
They're a really responsive employer (and recruitment consultant, for a change), I'm enjoying this process so far. Applied last Friday, was called on Monday, interview booked for today, did it after nearly fainting

, and now have a second interview booked for week after next - but only because one of the panel is off next week.
Also another recruitment consultant who's said they don't understand why my current salary starts with a 2, not a 4....

Smashing my back to fuck was enough, thanks.
Rich, problem is my experience is very 'bitty' - IE I spent two days teaching myself PHP basics (classes, functions etc) to troubleshoot an issue with a stats function. Never had to use it again. Taught myself sed and awk to pull some crap out of a wordpress database. Never had to do it again. I can't realistically list those as skillsets.
Suppose it demonstrates flexibility or something.
That, and (as I've been telling the recruitment consultant, but not the employer...) working at the current place has absolutely destroyed my self confidence and self worth, and I say that as someone
with depression - it's hard to say 'hey, look at how awesome I am' when you've spent >5 yrs being told by management that you're fucking shit, a fat useless cunt who sits in the corner doing fuck all, etc.
Even if I don't get this job, I know I can interview well, so fuck it, I'll be out of here soon enough. Fuck this place.

not easy to do, but be honest but positive and sell what you can do and have done rather than worrying about whether your experience is good enough. if the interviewer spends the whole interview focusing on what you can't do, then they're clearly not the place you want to be anyway.
Stick with it dude, your last sentence is bang on!

Yes and yes.
I'm talking with consultants for roles that are £15k above my current salary. Of course, these days I want to limit my time in the office as I'm much more productive at home without all those irritating humans around.
