Yeh they've never done all that much for me weirdly - I personally think the V8 Vantage looks and sounds better (though admittedly you'd need a 4.7 otherwise you'd be a bit outgunned on the power front). I also much prefer the new model R8 over the old, though I think most people seem to hold the opposite opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I do love a Vantage too. They didn't strike a chord with me that much until I had a look round SJ's that day at the rolling road and then I became quite taken with them.

Two separate driving buddies have had series1 R8 V10 manuals. They are really lovely and sound immense.

Do you have any photos of the dead 997? I shouldn’t really ask, seems mean when you were off the forum for a while after the accident, but this is a social medium…

With regards to what's next, DB9?
Yes DB9 would be an interesting contender, though the back seats are unusable (same for DB11) so that then makes me think a Vantage would be better and easier to get a manuel. V12 clearly the dream but I don't think the carbon front splitter would last two minutes in London...
Maser GT S would probably be the front runner to be honest but (a) its massive and (b) apparently (from my Dad's experience and countless others online) you ain't gonna get away with not having it on trickle charge. So basically doesn't work for on street parking. An 8,000 mile example in Grey with tan interior did come up for sale for £45k recently and I was really tempted!
AutoAudio in Park Royal could trim and wire up a solar charger on the rear parcel shelf. I’ve seen them do a few quattroportes

Hey! I actually looked up your last post a while back, as I’d noticed you were MIA.. Glad you’re back and grateful nobody was hurt. As for the 911: cars are only metal etc but we do become attached to them and yours was a very nice spec! RIP997
Anyway, onwards and upwards.. Taycan is a sensible London car. No CC for GG!

Yes. This is where we have done well when the wife has written a couple of cars off. They always paid market value of a similar replacement so both time we got more than the car cost us.

Sorry to hear that. As we all know, it's not just losing an object, there's far more emotional connection. And there is the general shaky feeling of having been through the adrenaline peak in the event that takes a bit of getting over, so I think there is always a bit of physical toll of sorts, even if no one is injured.
It looks from the other thread like the replacement has been decided, and it looks tremendous.
Anyway - good to have our favourite legal eagle back on the forum, I too was wondering what had happened!

I know right. I got low balled when my CTR was nicked. It wasn't easy to get the right payout but they did eventually pay market value
