On our way back from two weeks home, seeing family and friends for the first time in a long time. Kids have just managed a five hour drive across Germany with no issues (and two sweets every fifty miles), meaning we're set for a good rest of the trip.

Oh, and the coffee in the place we've stopped for lunch is excellent. Can recommend Klein Afrika in Oldenzaal if you're passing through/nearby and have kids with you. Indoor play area and several outside ones too.

I’m in a position where I have nothing specific to add to this thread but equally I have nothing to complain about so that’s good

I've been in a bit of a grumpy, moany mood for a couple of days - got myself too busy, plus stress and pressure from various angles.

Was having a moan to a friend about pain-in-the-bum logistics ahead of the two upcoming races - mostly shuffling stuff between garages to make space - as well as just general business and time pressures - new flat coming on board next week.
He kindly pointed out that having to move racecars, boats and hovercraft to find space for *another* racecar probably goes beyond what people might describe as "first world problems", adding a 14th flat to the property portfolio is probably a *good* thing, two solid weeks of just racing cars at two different UK circuits is probably quite fun, and that I should STFU! He was right.

I spent a good 10 minutes laughing at the bull earlier as he was using a steel post to scratch an itch on his gentleman vegetables for a while.

What can I say, I’m a simpleton

Christ that guy is a unit. My better half is terrified of cows at the best of times and having to thread past a small herd that formed along one of our walks today was not a good experience for her. Even less so when I gave one of them a friendly pat on the nose to try and prove how friendly they were and she* gave me a lick.

Life is good for me at the moment, family are good, little one is good, got no reason to be anything other than cheerful. Can always change in an instant though, so got to try to remember to enjoy it while I can.

We're off to the Algarve in the second week of Nov. First time little'un will have been on a plane (he's 2) and I'm both really looking forward to seeing him marvel at the wonders out the window, and also a tiny bit terrified of what it'll be like for nearly 3 hours of him in a confined space with a whole new range of physical and audible experiences. I'm also treating it as a trial run to see if it's realistic to take him to Brazil in the new year.

Work is busy busy busy, but we get looked after well. My chiro has fixed my twisted pelvis and lower spine issues and somehow my debilitating back pain has gone despite the x-rays showing I have a massively deteriorated lower disc. Life is busy but simple, if you know what I mean. Looking forward to having a joyful and normal Christmas and sharing the joy of Noah with some relatives who've barely met him because of the pandemic.

@Simon get him some ear protection if you're worried about the noise levels. We've used them successfully for fireworks. Also plenty of snacks and distractions.

Exactly what @Rich B posted. We've got two pairs and the same issue as he does. Once they're on they don't want to take them off, which means all further communication is at very high volume.

Awesome news, Tim! At least your ex didn't poison them against you, like mine did.

I really can't complain about life at all. I've a low-stress, no hassle job that I enjoy and work with people I don't want to punch in the face on a daily basis.
I still can't believe my wife is still putting up with me, but I'm certainly not complaining.
My little boy never ceases to surprise and delight and he'd just a lovely human being.
Financially, I stopped paying the ruinous maintenance to my ex back in June, the former marital home is being sold and I'm due a chunk of money from that, plus the proceeds from my business that I'm winding down. I'm throwing a chunk of it at the Porsche to get it just so. The rest will probably go into a buy to let.
Which brings me to the fact that I own a Porsche 928 S4 - a car I've always wanted.

All in all, I'm a pretty happy (and lucky) guy.

My kids are in a much happier place now compared to 12 months ago.

My 14yr old son didn't cope well with lockdowns and really struggled with various mental health issues like agoraphobia etc and getting him back to a normal routine has been the most difficult thing i've gone through as a parent. Thankfully we had some help which brought a massive improvement within a month and since June he's pretty much back to himself

Along with this my 16yr old daughter who was in the last year or so of school and therefore GCSEs decided she was going to quit school and get a job With a bit of encouragement she did manage to get her shit together and apply for 2 Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeships, she was offered them both subject achieving certain grades in her GCSEs which was the incentive she needed

She's been there 6 weeks and absolutely loving it. I've got a bit of tool envy as they bought her a load of Wera tools last week to start her off, its lovely kit but she's put some more on her Xmas list

That's great Carlos. It's great to see women gettint into engineering - I don't think there was a single one on the Mech Eng course I started at uni! There were some at least on the Civil Eng one I switched to, but even then most were Greek or Chinese.

And yeah, I have a couple of Wera sockets that replaced some Halfords ones I'd lost - I wish I had decent set of them!
