He was absent from a lot of cats does countdown a while ago, then came back and his voice sounded significantly different and very strained, did worry me because he sounded very similar to the changes when my mother in law had throat cancer.
Weirdly a YouTube clip of him was on my suggested videos this morning hours before it was announced so I watched it. Funny bloke. RIP

This is terrible news I'm never really bothered about celebrity deaths but always loved Sean Lock on panel shows, properly entertaining and one of the few people who ever used to make Jimmy Carr genuinly laugh.... the comedian's comedian as he was known.
Still love his pairing with Miles Jupp. "Sean bought up Hitler"

I wanted to watch that again and lo, a compilation of the two;
But. You hear his voice at 4m30. Very different I remember thinking at the time he didn’t sound right, but it was a thought that went as quickly as it arrived.
