Good to see you again Ian. Is that the Long Walk in the background on the M3 pics?
yep, I used to live about 100m from there (on Kings Road).

Welcome back I currently have a Scirocco which has become the longest owned of any of my cars! We have a St Bernard puppy who is almost visible growing ( 5 months, 30kg) so I’m looking at options for something bigger even if it’s just something with a more accessible rear seat.

Very nice. I grew up in Langley and used to go out in Windsor loads.

Yep, outside the girlfriends house.. sadly my rental on Grove Rd has fallen through due landlady deciding to rent to a family member instead.. 10 days before I was due to move in but not before I’d order the virgin media installation.. that’s been fun trying to cancel!! Seems COVID stops you being able to answer the phone!
M4 now worth more than finance outstanding, so not sure whether to sell now or wait for Touring. Will go try a RS4 this week..
I forgot to mention… drove for a curry with my folks a while back and thought “hmm it’s pulling left a bit, I did hit a pothole yesterday though,.. no, that’s not right, getting worse as I
slow down! Shit! I’ve stopped and can’t move!.. just around a blind bend where it goes 50 to 30! Okay.. CST off.. gently.. splutter, engine dies.. again, same, SHIT!.. again, lots more power, aha! Moving turn into little road.. hod awful screeching noise.. bit further.. STOP!
So, I’d picked it up from storage 4 days before and annoyingly had cctv of it with bolts in afterwards, so best guess, I’d interrupted someone trying to steal a wheel but had no jack/bricks to lift the car up with. Or, and this is more worrying, it’d been done so I’d breakdown later on and they could follow and have the car/anything else they wanted!! Dunno, I was lucky I had a curry in the passenger footwell because that made me drive sensibly and not like a twat, like I usually do.

Christ alive, that's...well, I was going to say lucky, but lucky would have been interrupting them before they got the bolts out

Scarey.

Happened to a mate just after we started driving - he was parked up at Uni and started driving home only to find his car wobbling all over the place. 3 wheels with nuts missing or loosened. That was a mk2 Escort Estate on steels though
Is the wheel still OK?

Happened to my dad with a beetle - he backed off the throttle upon getting a wobble, and one of the front wheels just kept on going.
Rear engine kept the car mostly on three wheels till he collected it and refitted it.

Locking wheels nuts.. not then, but now yes!
New wheel as it was thoroughly and repeatedly gouged so was too risky imo. (Also, looked terrible! )

That's incredible - you would assume the plethora of locking nuts round and about would have stopped people even attempting this.
Welcome back etc too!

Probably the correct (but painful) decision. You could have got it refurbed, but you’d be wondering about it’s integrity every time you loaded the car up in a turn….

Any damage to hub and brakes? Or just limited to the wheel?

Nothing apparently.. soft alloys and hard steel, I guess
