I expect the Mini will take the long route back :P
I’m torn - going to the pub for the first time when I get home 😄
Still might well take the B-roads from Newbury to Wantage and Uffington white horse rather than the M4.
Ooh, where's it coming from? Careful on the Wantage road. There's been known to be an accident on there 😉
I didn’t come through Wantage in the end - took the B4000 west from Newbury intending to go up to Lambourn and over the downs but two roads were closed for resurfacing. Just carried on up to Swindon.

Great cars these Minis.

Happy birthday Jobbo!

How did you find the ride quality on the Mini? I only had a very brief experience (can’t remember which model, just a vanilla one) and found it very crashy, something that the Integra never suffered (small tyres?). Might just be a poor example though. I should revisit the Mini....

They all do that. If you get home with your fillings still in, you're lucky.

I miss the bouncy ride of the original Mini. This one is on 16”s and doesn’t have run-flats; it rides absolutely fine. In fact it made me notice that my Merc CLS ride isn’t as good as I thought when I got back in it.

@Jimmy Choo @Jobbo so who’s correct? ;)

Thanks Jobbo, sounds like it’s definitely worth re-visiting then when I search for my next runabout. Cheers!

Jimmy’s was on 15”s I think - so was it on run-flats?

To a GT3 owner I don’t think the ride is going to be an issue but try one, it’s not the ride but the handling which makes them great.

I can't remember the size but it was definitely on run flats, which were shit, especially when it bent a wheel hitting a pot hole on my birthday. Stiff side walls were not my friend that day. It had mountains of grip and I only had one unprovoked slide in the 3 or so years I had it.

Blimey, you can tell people are getting old - everyone seems more bothered about ride quality than handling. 😢

Ooh, ooh, my turn !

Wife’s Cooper S is definitely a bit crashy - 17” runflats.

Her previous ONE was fine - 15” regular tyres and non-Cooper suspension.

My Cooper S was fine on 17s and non run flats, it had the optional sport suspension as well.

The R50 Cooper I had more recently had SuperSport suspension optioned (whatever that consists of) and 17s and rode surprisingly well, I thought it would have been worse than the R56 but was probably about the same.

Clubmans ride a lot better than the Hatches also, extra length I reckon as I think the spring rates are pretty similar if not the same.
