Interesting.
My own use of 2-stroke in the blend was based mainly on 2 things: first, comments from a chemist at Ineos in reference to the move from EN590 to Ultra-low sulphur diesel and it's negative effects on rubber seals and overall lubricity (note that the linked study only looks at the earlier EN590 standard) and a recommendation to use "some sort of fuel additive"; second, a look at the composition of commercially available diesel additives (e.g. Data sheet for Flashlube Diesel conditioner) - they're basically a refined oil and a little bit of solvent, usually naptha (FYI - "injector cleaner" products are the same, just with a higher % of solvent) - a 95% 2-stroke oil/5% naptha mix is a pretty close copy.
Qualitatively, when I ran the mix in the Disco (without the Cetane booster) the fuel pump was less clattery, the engine appeared to run smoother, and appeared the pick up better on sudden WOT.

It's also worth flagging that the linked study above does not consider the effects on rubber seals, and does appear to show a significant increase in lubricity for EN590 under the SLBOCLE test:

Thanks the info.
I might give 2 stroke a try (my Audi is pre-common rail), its hard to find non-US biased info on running 2-stroke with dervs, in particular success with mixing with cetane booster like I would do (and you have).
Yup in most cases fuel cleaner is just a thinner fraction of what you normally put in the tank. The one additive that is very good to look out for is PEA (Polyetheramine), its a very good deposit cleaner (not very good with varnish), plenty of studies to show its effectiveness, Techron is the biggest marketed brand of PEA, but I've seen it in small amounts in one of the Wynn's Profession products.
I am currently using Hydra Maximus, which has lubricants in as well as 2ehn, is a touch quieter but does not start as well in the cold as using pure cetane booster (I use shell derv) at the recommended concentrations.

I should also maybe add that my experiential reports relate exclusively to the Disco. The Merc fuel pump is quieter anyway, and the engine generally far more refined, so I can't feel/hear/sense any difference in running quality, but continue to use my mix on the back of my Disco experiences.

Oh, also forgot to mention, back to back fuel consumption across 3 full tanks was 9% lower with the mix vs without in the Disco too (although there's obviously quite a high margin for error with different kinds of driving).
