Finance isn’t a bad thing of itself, but go elsewhere next time and find a proper interest rate, and buy the car at the right price. I reckon a McLaren will harm you on depreciation but nobody’s ever going to say, “You paid £85k for a Boxster?!”

I don’t regret the finance aspect as it got me into the car and facilitated my nurburgring adventures. I’ll definitely be more diligent with interest rates next time though since I’ve now got a handle on how things work and it’s not as scary

Paying the premium over list was a far bigger expense than the interest, but I don’t think that’s an issue with McLarens

Isn’t McLaren still a bit fragile for extensive track use?

How about stick with Porsche and go for 991.2 GT3 or something Lotus?

Interesting to see a real life example of paying for something like this. Sound like you had a massive ball with it at the 'ring. It looks like there are some McLaren 'bargains' out there, so 570? 720? I have no idea on which one is the one to go for tbh, any one would be an event. Would you have the same expectations for it as a road car, as you found the Cayman, or are you expecting more in that area?

oh, and is the £65k with knowledge of its track history? I'd be curious if that's reduced its value at all in anyone eyes, say compared to the price of one with the same mileage that hadn't been round the ring 250 times. I guess it's had more maintenance than average for that mileage, plus it's designed for it.

I reckon the track use will affect the value, yes, but it shouldn’t really if you ask me.

I’m going to test drive the 600lt in a week’s time when restrictions lift here in Scotland. If it doesn’t have significantly better road manners, especially composure over a bumpy road and visibility then it’s probably going to be rejected.

720s looks like amazing value for money and should have more compliance with it’s fancy suspension but it doesn’t have top exit exhausts and I’m not sure I’d be able to sleep at night if I don’t have top exit exhausts

I really like the AMG GTR, especially in a subtle colour scheme, but no contest between that and a 600LT for me.

The grey 600LT on AT looks fabulous. It's up for £130k and was £220k list 18 months ago so some poor bastard has done a £100k in a year or so and 600 miles
