I think it goes without saying I'm not buying this for the performance ! I'm pretty sure my Compact will be substantially faster. I will definitely autosolo the GT though, just for some fun.
It's a silly thing to suggest really.

Also put an M54B30 in it.
@Sundayjumper is a frugal, sensible chap, so the only correct suggestion is to take the engine from a vehicle he already owns. Do you think the Toerag's engine will fit?

Agreed @V8Granite . I always thought the back of the GTE had a whiff of Austin Maestro about it so I much prefer the coupe.

Can you drop a second carb in it?

Yes, and a third too. Triple Webers is where it’s at 8-)

Not cheap, mind.

What kind of power would that give?

500 extra ccs in the 3.0 gave you less than 20 additional HP so I can't imagine you'd see more than that...

I've been tempted from time to time to get the GTS powerpack retrofitted to my 997 but always came to my senses as its about £7k for supposedly 28hp... but that triple carb setup is making it look good value.

Because its easy to suggest things you have no idea of just how much work is involved in doing said thing but it sounds good on the internet :D

Looks lovely in an old rubbish way, enjoy

I know, it was kinda rhetorical ;)

OK, so on the face of it, classic cars are a very cheap hobby:

Depreciation - n/a ??
MOT - not required
VED - free
Insurance - I have just had the first quote in, £77.02 pa

Nice !

NO YOU SHUT UP

I know that on some cars, you can throw motorbike carbs/throttle bodies on them (mostly to give more throttle opening mms or something I assume, I'm not all that up on carb/fuel tuning), any options like that for the Scimitar? Something a bit less ordinary?

Beany, stop it :D

First step is to give it a good check over and try for an MOT. It doesn't need one but for my own peace of mind I'd like to do it.

No mods planned.

Maybe an LSD.

And shiny things.

What's the point of an LSD if you don't have enough power to light up the tyres? ;)

Not sure exactly what's on there now, but OEM was 165 x 15 radials. I don't think it'll be a problem :)

Yeah

But I'm giving it a free pass. I think this off-white suits the car perfectly.

The car is pretty light so if the engine is in good health it'll probably have enough to move it along reasonably well. It's basically a skateboard under the fiberglass

Checked. It's on 165SR15 tyres

And Zed - it looks like it's ~1200kg so about 100bhp/tonne. No kind of rocketship but as long as the gearing is not too high it'll be fine.

I'm just jealous that I need wet leaves to start a one tyre fire :(

Fat rubber = no fun ;)
