You're a sucker for punishment. I found it such a PITA to put the hood on that I think I only did it once. I had it with me when we went up to Scotland but I think the half hood served me fine and I never needed it. Looks better than the full hood too IMO, excuse for photo:

Did any of you store them outside or did you all have a garage? Is it a must to garage them?

A garage was a must for me, but then I've made sure to have a garage before I bought any of my second cars.

Some people keep them outside under covers.

Do the covers work well or are they compromised? My choice is either store it on the drive where I am or put it in the parents garage up north, but they are closer to the Dales.

My place in the Dales has off road parking but it’s very narrow, not sure a Caterfield would fit but I do intend on measuring it when I’m next up there. Absolutely cracking roads, perfect for that sort of car.

No idea on the covers I'm afraid.

In terms of fitting in a garage, in S3 form it really is a very small car. If it won't fit, then probably not much will!

A lot of people in the owners club say they use covers without problems, and a few park theirs on the street. I've always garaged mine though.

If you like driving and you like roads, then hiring a Caterham 7 on the Highlands is erm, highly recommended

I presume he's talking S3 Exige at that money. To some degree it will depend on usage. If he's got a nice comfy tow car though it makes the 7 rather appealing. I think I look back on the Exige more fondly from an overall ownership perspective, but part of that is down to some of the issues I had with the 7. Driving wise the 7 probably edges it.

I fancy a few road trips and I’m not planning to tow. As said I didn’t find it too bad over 120 odd miles and I’m not sure if an Elise / Exige would offer much more in the way of comfort?

Really need to drive one to make decision. The rawness with random clunks is half of the appeal. Over run pops and bangs addictive too
