Baked Beans
Re: Baked Beans
I first found out about them when I was like 10, they had staff all over the town and train station handing out free cans like you get with Coke in many places. We had a competition amongst friends to see who could collect the most and I eventually had a whole kitchen cupboard full

How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Baked Beans
Switched to Branston many years ago after the ‘demise’ of HP Beans.

I sometimes add Worcestershire sauce, or some cheap corned beef. Plus hash browns and fried eggs. That’s your breakfast

See above. YK owes you.duncs500 wrote: Tue Jun 09, 2020 4:49 pm I'll try them next time I buy beans. If they really are superior I expect @mik to reimburse me for all the extra money I've spent on Heinz, given that he could have raised this a long time ago.![]()
Re: Baked Beans
They are loads better. Best addition to beans is a little bit of ground black pepper

Re: Baked Beans
Sainsbury's own brand are even better than Branstons!
And their Ketchup is better than Heinz, and that's coming from someone who wouldn't entertain eating anything other than Heinz upto 2 years ago!
The Heinz stuff tastes so salty when you go back to it after the Sainsbury's stuff.

Re: Baked Beans

Wilkin & Sons Ltd Tiptree Tomato Ketchup Is awesome...
Re: Baked Beans
Ketchup I buy whatever is on offer/cheapest. Brown sauce it has to be chop

Re: Baked Beans
No chance of Branston in Aus.
Also Heinz beans come in the wrong sized tin.
It's either a 300g tin or 555g.
Completely missing the sweet spot of the standard, normal 415g tin.
Heathens.

The Evo forum really is a shadow of its former self. I remember when the internet was for the elite and now they seem to let any spastic on

Woah Woah Woah, I'm not having this. Cheap ketchup is disgusting.
Re: Baked Beans
Love the food related threads on this forum
I eat baked beans so infrequently, that I don't think I can tell the difference between brands!

Re: Baked Beans
Excellent Zed - I’ll try Morrison’s for a bottle. In every Irish supermarket but my last batch was from Amazon.
Quite why a sauce made in Ireland since the 30's is called Yorkshire Relish is a mystery..

By the way, can't recall if your a veggie but if that Irish section has Clonakilty Irish Sausages you have to try them. you can thank me later..

While we’re talking about sauces mik have you ever been to Lupe Pintos? Excellent selection of chilli and hot sauces.
Also a great shop for interesting food in general.
