991 is prettier so I’ll have a 991 please.

What is it with you people and awful coloured 911s???

Orange suits a GT3 RS with lots of black spoilery bits, but looks terrible on a targa imo!

Wtf? :?:
After the utter shift fest I went through with my much simpler roof on the Mustang I wouldn’t touch another convertible again unless it was still the original fit roof from the factory and fully functional, let alone one as complex as that on the Porsche. It’s enough of a shit experience to wipe all pleasure from the car and make you regret your decision because really, what does a tech know about a convertible roof? Very few manufacturers train their dealers up properly on them, even then it’s only specialist ones such as Ferrari etc and the car will be sent to a regional specialist.

You’re comparing a German built (effectively) folding hardtop to an American built convertible. One is a proper piece of engineering, the other is probably still a 1950s design that was crap in the first place...

Do dealerships steal them and replace them with Chinese copies? “Tagra” :?:
No idea. I'm lost. What are Ford up to with their Mustangs if theyre not factory fitted?

Did someone slice the roof off OC’s Mustang when he wasn’t looking and replace it with some tarpaulin or something?

I feel like there's something about the back end of this that doesn't work as well as the 991 Targa.

But a Targa 4GTS mit PDK would be a most excellent daily I reckon. Money no object of course... 8-)

Nice try, but the Mustang roof is German and from the same supplier as the Porsche one. The point is not the design of the roof or the way it’s fitted at the factory but it is the monkeys in the dealers, it’s not a hard concept to grasp

A tarpaulin would have been better, the first of the three roof replacements it had came with a free hole in it.

“I wouldn’t touch another convertible again unless it was still the original fit roof from the factory and fully functional”

This isn’t possible to test unless you can test drive a car overnight and park it during a torrential rain storm?

You bought a brand new car so how could you know?

If it’s brand new then it’s fine, it’s come from the factory with the roof as intended.

If it’s second hand and had a roof change then it’s going to be in the paperwork for the car, it’s also something you can check on the cars history with a dealer plus they’re chuffing expensive to change so won’t exactly be ‘missed’ off a dealers paperwork.

Then there’s the fact it’s easy to spot a changed roof that has got issues from a visual inspection.

why would they be changing the roof on a targa?

Because it’s been damaged or has a design issue.

I’ll consult the crystal ball and let you know, it’s what I do before every car purchase but I prefer the old fashioned way as described above ;)

Assuming that all cars with anything but a fixed roof are crap based on the experience of a car put together by fat Americans!

I don’t get your point, I’ve said more than once it’s not a manufacturing issue but you seem to not be able to acknowledge that.
