Aye well, maybe you should have done the meter readings yourself and got in touch with the electricity/gas company when you moved in and out and then you’d know for sure, wouldn’t you?

Luckily, the meters were read by the provider just either side of him being in there, coincidentally. To be fair to the M-I-L, she’s told him if he can provide proof of the meter readings, she’ll happily use those, otherwise pay up. He’s not happy.

Sounds like the M.I.L is starting to maybe grow a pair. Good.
