Yeah, that's the plan. I guess it got condensation inside, that dripped out the drain hole, froze, and it caused a thick seam of ice to form at the bottom of the door. And because the door didn't open when the handle was pulled, it was waiting to be 'shut' again, or similar.
I'll have a closer look when it's not fucking freezing, see if my logic adds up.

I'm not a fan of that stuff. Whenever I've used it in the past it ends up drying to a thick paste and bungs stuff up. I particularly remember the side door of the T4 wouldn't always latch. I kept spraying grease into it and it just got worse and worse until one day it would not latch shut at all. A good dose of WD40 to loosen the white grease and it was fine again.

We have a small issue appearing with the Bentley. We went down to my parents' place yesterday (about an hour & half of motorway) and several times on the way back it lost power for a few seconds before coming back. Not totally died, more like you suddenly took you foot off the throttle. But mashing the pedal had zero effect. Then it kind of faded back in again. No warning lights and only one code recorded for an exhaust temperature sensor, an error that might have been there for ages for all I know right now.
The temperature sensor seems to be a fairly common fault (and is shared with some other VAGs so not too expensive) *but* usually pings up a terrifying warning on the dash about overheating and it didn't do that. So I'm not totally convinced. Gut feeling is a boost sensor or similar.
I'll keep driving it and see what happens

New job requires a 150 mile round trip to the office once a week. I guess I'll be packing blankets & emergency rations in case of a breakdown !

Part of the mx5 dash cluster is an LCD display which shows mileage, engine temp, fuel gauge and a few other things. Out driving today and it suddenly failed resulting in this
This fault does seem to be becoming more common as I've seen a few posts on the FB group but it only affects the RF (hard top) model. The car has a few months of Mazda warranty left so I'm hoping for a smooth outcome.

I realise this is the standard piss take response but it could be the maf. Had that with the 1.8T engine twice. Didn’t throw a CEL both times. Just lost all power.
ETA - I’m sure I scanned it as well and there was no codes.

Huh. Interesting. It needed cleaning, or replacing ?
From my favourite supplier they're only ~£140 for a pair of brand new Bosch ones, and they frequently have discount codes so if I bide my time I can probably get another £10-20 off that. Seems very reasonable.

I would have thought throttle position sensor if a fly by wire throttle (which it almost certainly is).
Some other posts online say it could be just new battery(ies) needed. Did you say you'd replaced them recently or did I make that up?

Zoe's reverse light stopped working again. The bulb mounts from the bottom and I'm guessing that's where the water gets in. A load of brown water came out as I undid it. Will have a go at cleaning it properly and getting it dry too see if it fixes it.
If not, a new bulb holder is about £7-8 and a whole light unit with holder about £50.

Throttle - definitely fly-by-wire but not convinced that's it tbh.
Batteries - they were replaced not long before I bought it, but fair point, these cars are awkward and it's drained them flat a couple of times. Worth checking.

Quite, but there are no other obvious holes, so I'm thinking the rubber gasket isn't sealing properly. Drilling a hole is the next step once I get it working again.

First one i cleaned with brake cleaner and it started working again. Second one was fucked and needed replaced.

What was the exact DTC logged in it?

Apparently there’s a guy in Poland that sells replacement circuit boards for them; that’s where the fault usually is rather than the actual thermocouple in the exhaust.

I've just been out and cleaned the MAFs. Both look original but someone has been mucking about before on the passenger side, a couple of screws missing & the plug is slightly broken

I'll drive it properly on Thursday and see what happens.

I've never had any such issues with it tbh. Used it extensively on the tailgate glass mechanism on the E91. Gave it all a thorough cleaning out first with WD40, before applying the lithium grease.

I still haven't bought a car, I'm useless
Went back to I3's, then confirmed they're still too small, and too electric.
So then looked at 225XE's but they're awful looking, but go well and are practical, but I'm not sure I can live with the looks of the thing.
So maybe a C350E or 330E, but will have to be an estate, so it's looking like maybe the Merc will win, but then I found a V60 D6 twin engine, but I feel like I don't want another V60, as good as it was I think they look a bit old now (last shape).
Has anyone here had a C350e?
