9500 is probably a sensible limit, I might do a few runs a little higher just to see where the power tails off, but with the revs only dropping around 1000rpm between gearchanges that'll keep me right in the sweet spot - its not making less than 320hp from 8500 onwards which makes the average power in gear very impressive indeed.

Remind me again, how much is this thing gonna weight wet? IIRC 600-700kg? Or was it less than that?

I suspect the power to weight and bhp/litre numbers at the end of the day are going to be intimidating

It currently weighs almost exactly 500 kilos. Its missing bodywork, front calipers, a passenger seat and er thats about it. Target was always 650 kilos, I suspect it'll be closer to 600.

Its making 152hp per litre so far but i'm not finished tuning it yet, although reality is there's only another 10hp left in it if that.

Still, ~ 335hp will do nicely.

Just the 550bhp/t or so then.

Motorhome passed the MOT with no advisories. Just over 3000 miles covered since the last one which is more than I've done in the mx5

Fun times with the mighty Mito today.

Already knew the 3rd brake light didn’t work. Frosty weather last week revealed the heated rear window wasn’t working either.

Yay, boot loom has started to fail there’s no mechanical boot release so thought I’d better fix it before that stopped working.

Repair kit bought, includes the rubber conduit and a set of nice flexible wires with crimp connectors both ends, even a little section of washer hose with push connectors.

Nope! There was an also a co-ax aerial cable in the original loom not in the repair kit.

I took the trim panel off, pulled all the loom out of the tailgate, unwrapped the most horrible and sticky loom tape I’ve ever seen to separate the co-ax from the rest of the loom. Made all the repairs, taped the loom back together but decided to leave the aerial cable separate, then pulled it all back through, connected everything back up, and it all works!

Had to give it a wash before attempting the repair as it was pretty grim

Not sure how the Audi garage managed to measure just one of my tyres as having 2.9mm of tread last week. Checked them all twice today and the fronts are barely below 4mm and the rears just below 5mm. So I might swap them front to back over Christmas but I’m not going to be changing the tyres soon. On 16k miles currently so I may well get the same OE Contis next time; they seem to last well and are nice to use.

It’s dry, not too cold, so I took the mx5 out for a spin today, not sure if I’ve lost some of my skills with age, but the backend has been out more times than I can remember. Checked the rear tyres when I got back and they’re not that low, way above the markers, but I was spinning it at 15mph with thanks for letting me know normal driving, it was fun, but there was at least one unexpected brown trouser moment
