Yep had it fifteen years this year, and obviously had one before that too so will be very strange. Think I've had my fill of the impracticalities now tho, must be getting old.mik wrote: Wed Nov 01, 2023 2:47 pmOoh yeah - that seems strange!Jobbo wrote: Wed Nov 01, 2023 2:42 pmGlad it's back, and a shame you're selling Chris. It'll be weird you not having a Caterham.speedingfine wrote: Wed Nov 01, 2023 2:08 pm
Finally got the car back in working order after a couple of further issues... It's getting sold I'm afraid! I fancy something with a roof and maybe some doors![]()

Onwards however..... so what's in your target sights?![]()
It’s just a few post up (ybc).
Caterham to Elise, it's a well trodden path! You just took longer than necessary to figure it out.speedingfine wrote: Wed Nov 01, 2023 8:07 pmYep had it fifteen years this year, and obviously had one before that too so will be very strange. Probably a cheap Boxster next, so expect a hand wringing bore scoring thread soon![]()
I went to pick up a hire car last Friday and they were running late, the car wasn't ready because the previous renter hadn't returned it. So I complained but they literally had zero cars in the car park to offer me, aside from an EV, which was the only thing people didn't wantIanF wrote: Wed Nov 01, 2023 7:29 pm Hertz initially stated they’d be buying over 100000 elec vehicles in 2022, they managed 55000 and have stated they’re reducing their orders going forward.
There’s talk that all the early adopters have now bought one and due the lack of infrastructure improvements or incentives (if you are not buying through a business) other people aren’t following suit

I've got a lovely elise coming in to stock next week....it'd be perfect for youduncs500 wrote: Wed Nov 01, 2023 11:43 pmCaterham to Elise, it's a well trodden path! No way you can go direct from a Caterham to a Boxster, that's like going from an MX5 to a Rolls Royce.![]()
Funnily enough I have a mate that's after one at the moment, he's just sold a 996 to get into an Elise. Let me know the details and he may be interested.dan wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 12:06 pmI've got a lovely elise coming in to stock next week....it'd be perfect for youduncs500 wrote: Wed Nov 01, 2023 11:43 pmCaterham to Elise, it's a well trodden path! The BMW assist route with the X5 got me a hire car for about 8 weeksMikeHunt wrote: Wed Nov 01, 2023 7:18 pm All they have said is that it’s internal leak, but not a head gasket. Seems like a lot of parts and daft that they have to be ordered that way, especially as BMW are paying for the rental car.
Yes it’s from enterprise and not been looked after as you’d expect. The stupid noise it makes is enough to put even greta thunberg off EVs.
I really wanted a BMW or Merc with a half decent engine next. Are they all really that shit now?Mito Man wrote: Wed Nov 01, 2023 1:36 pm I’ve noticed 80% of breakdowns seem to consist of BMW, Mercedes and Land Rover. Barely see much of the other marques apart from the odd knackered Qashqai which probably hasn’t been serviced in 6 years.
I reckon it’s because 80% of the vehicles Mito sees are those manufacturers.. the other 20% are probably Audis!duncs500 wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 2:51 pmI really wanted a BMW or Merc with a half decent engine next.
