My update - damp passenger footwell. Probably coming through the door. Annoying.

Also - made a start on fitting my little Soundstream amplifier. Made myself a little ISO breakout harness to go between the car & the radio. There's loads of empty space in the dash under the steering column, I just need to be creative in devising a mounting bracket.

Asked the garage that did the wheel bearing for a quote - nothing yet. Will need to chase them.

When i had it on the ramp last weekend it looked like the bolts were right up against the chassis.

I think I’d be using some easy fit powerflex bushes!

Powerflex would be nice but they're fairly expensive and this is only really a shopping car at the end of the day.

Yeah i was a bit like when i saw that. The new wishbones look like the way to go. Wishbones on ours are slightly crusty so that would fix that as well. also looks like it comes with the other bushes.

Fitted the new window motor which was a right royal pain in the arse. The motor bolts to the regulator, which is bolted to the door. You can't access the motor bolts without moving the regulator and you can't get the regulator/motor assembly through the small hole in the door without the regulator being in the down position. Mine was in the up position, so I had to unbolt the regulator, move it so I could access the motor bolts, disconnect the motor, move the regulator into the down position and fiddle the everything out the hole.

Cleaned it all up with brake cleaner, lubricated everything with lithium grease and managed to thread it all back in. Getting the four regulator bolt holes to line up was also a pain. It's all sorted now thankfully.

I've noticed an oil leak which I suspect is the oil sump gasket as the car has been laid up for 9 month during its respray. I guess that's the next job on the list now.

I've just spotted a bulge in the sidewall of one of the Cayenne's front tyres

They're P-Zeros that I've never been overly impressed with so this ought to be an excuse to upgrade but that's a bit spendy right now. Stupid me for being stupid and buying stupid cars.

Ouch. RR service last week was £660 for its minor and I was told next year is "a big one" Is the M2 on an annual or bi-annual rotation?

Plus they wanted £500 to change the rear pads... Errr, I think I'll be getting those changed elsewhere.

Is it expensive? It's what I'd expect for a car like an M2... Same for £660 for the RR with @GG. -
For context, VW want £250 for a minor service on a VW Up, over £450 for the major.

For context, VW want £250 for a minor service on a VW Up, over £450 for the major.

It is when you consider it is on an annual basis. Thats probably around £800 a year blended between major and minor plus obligatory £1000 for the warranty...

The Porsche by comparison is on 24 month service rotation and with servicing costs at a similar price means the Range Rover is double the scheduled expenditure for a lowly stressed pig iron 4.4 Turbo diesel versus a flat six pushing out 112hp per litre. Having said the above, I will always do an oil service annually on the 911 but that doesn't cost £600!

The most ridiculous one is the bloody Smart. Its also on an annual service because I think it believes its a Mercedes when actually its a flippin Twingo with a Mitsubishi 3cyl engine! I think Mercedes wanted £550 for a major service and then didn't have the parts when I drove 40 minutes for the appointment... needless to say it gets done at the local German car specialist now (as needs someone with access to Merc online service logging) for half the price.

yep, 2 years or 15k. BMW prices 280 and 1190

To be fair, it's not burnt a drop of oil in its life - I keep checking but it's always full.

My M140i was the same. 84000 miles and never needed to top it up.

I don’t think BMW’s price for the major service is that mad - I remember when they introduced the Condition-Based Servicing on the E60 and it made each service cost less because it was for a specific item but the car would ask you to go in every other month. The constant drip-drip of servicing costs over time would have ended up much more expensive in reality.

yeah, in the last 2 years all it's asked for was brake fluid, so it's not really been much of a problem. I definitely object to £330 uplift for a main dealer stamp though. Especially when it's just a name on the centre console screen now.

Arguably reasonable costs for a car with that level of performance, but given they are both following the same schedule, using the same parts, I'd also struggle with dealer labour costing an extra £330. Unless the market values full dealer service history higher than respectable Indy for M-cars?

If you can still put a BMW warranty on it, that should make no difference. Yet I’d still rather see a sheaf of main dealer invoices if buying.
