I knew it would arrive next day but 07:25 was a bit of a surprise. I'd only been out of bed ten minutes.

Aslong as you have a defined goal it’s good. I averaged 106 hours a week for 12 weeks straight and no days off, 3 weeks at home and then the same again. After a year I had a house deposit though so that was the aim.

Now I do between 84 and 90 hours a week for 4 weeks, no days off but followed by 4 weeks off.

Tiredness hits you in different ways and it’s just not sustainable and healthy.

Work hard when you’re young to give your future self an easier time.

Yausas are also pretty good, I find.

Engine mounts done. Undertray a bit of a faff but not actually difficult - although it turns out there’s a couple of rivnuts missing from the chassis so I’ll need to replace those. I may as well fit new stainless hardware while I’m there.

With the car then up in the air the engine mounts are incredibly easy. One big bolt holding it to the engine, four small ones to the chassis. Jack the engine up a bit, swap them over, done. This is turning out to be a very easy car to work on.

Old ones clearly fcuked. I got hold of a pair of vgc s/h mounts for £47 from someone upgrading to Challenge spec mounts vs. buying new at almost £200 . They will be a big improvement.

355 & earlier are engine-out for cam belt change as the belts are at the bulkhead end. For the 360 they put an access panel in the bulkhead so you can do it from inside the car.

They could say that about any of them and people would be happy to pay. I imagine the percentage of Ferrari owners prepared to get their hands dirty is minute.

I’d imagine the older ones like 355 / 512 are a little more tricky and more ‘bespoke’ where I’d have thought by the 360 they had put some thought into efficient build and maintenance.

Ferrari 360 appealing more and more. Nice working on stuff which has actually been designed with future serviceability in mind.

For newer ones I'm sure you're right but for slightly older ones there's quite a strong DIY scene and there's a wealth of info out there.

Everything before the 360 was as you say... "bespoke". Interesting thing with the 512 though - the flat 12 engine sits directly on top of the gearbox and the drive is transferred downwards by a couple of idler gears. The clutch is simply under a cover, you can change it without removing either engine or gearbox ! I assume this was an accident, rather than deliberately for ease of replacement ;)

Down to a much more mundane update...
Fabia. MOT. Yay! (though the offside front lower shock bolt was loose. Like, nearly falling off loose, so they handily tightened that up).
Might get the clutch done now that's out of the way. And drive it again. 464 miles since the last MOT.
Left over crest; tightens.

It's not the number of miles, it's what you do with them. A reasonable number of those were much much harder than road miles !

I probably sat in the passenger seat for 1/4 of those miles 😄

Audi ticked over 10,000 miles today. I’m going to get it serviced now just to change the oil, even though it’s on long life service intervals. My commute should be a bit shorter soon so that’ll stop it racking up the miles as quickly. Still 22 miles to the nearer office and 45ish to the further one but I guess a petrol engine isn’t out of the question next time.

Ignore the questionable pads, they will be replaced when I have the money, but in the mean time they help stop me from scratching them up.
