And the power figures on these cars has become tedious. I see 1000+bhp and it while it should be impressive, I just don't really care. Perhaps it's the lack of theatre/drama and the fact they're invariably a bland/weird looking EV.

It just looks like one of those endless Chinese brands that copy the silhouette of high end European cars and then get the details very wrong.

The middle of it just looks like a Taycan, while the rear lights have that awful graphic which looks like Mitsubishi's logo not Merc's and the front grille looks like it was intended for a Maserati and the headlight strip looks like it's from a Smart. Not impressed.

I had an Andersen Quartz charger fitted after buying my M5 because trying to share one charger is a pain. And I've been happy with it, though it wasn't cheap to fit due to where it was going (plenty of expensive cable required from the consumer unit) and the fact we already had a charger so needed a few things upgrading. I did use a very good electrician rather than a cheap installer because I wanted it to be done right, and he did a really good and thorough job, but the all-in cost was the best part of £2000. I baulked at the original quote - which he barely went over despite the extra bits required - but I didn't want to do it on the cheap when there's potential to set fire to everything so swallowed it.
On my journey to work this morning I thought about how much I spend on fuel for commuting and general stuff. Assuming I do 1,200 miles per month (a very low estimate compared to actual mileage so far) and would manage 30mpg without any charging (achievable I think based on my time in Scotland without plugging in), and the cheapest unleaded fuel near me being 151.9p/litre (£6.90/gallon) that is £276 per month for those 1,200 miles. If I use electricity at 7p/kWh overnight and used the entire battery every day (say 20kWh) which gets me about 40 miles, the total cost of electricity for 1,200 miles in a month would be under £40. Meaning the expensive charger would pay for itself in under 9 months.
Didn't even require a Timculator. I'm quite enjoying the best of both worlds PHEV, I must say.

Just discovered another EV benefit: we hired a car (while the Zoe is broken), and got an EV. No need to charge before returning it. The saving over filling up with petrol was a nice, if ultimately minor, saving.

Funnily enough I was googling chargers last night... I'm not sure I'd get much regen from normal driving unless it was a LONG motorway trip, so I think I will get one installed. You definitely get regen even if you don't think you are - if you do a few miles on an A-road then there will be battery charge when you come to a halt and it'll pull away without the engine on. The engine cutting in and out is sufficiently subtle that you don't really notice it so do check the dials.
