Exciting X5 update!
The rear wiper was corroding, looked scruffy and would skip a section at the top centre of the window.
Of course I could sand it back, paint it, lube up the joint.
Or, I could spend a whole £17 on a replacement arm (with blade) from Amazon. Which I did.
Weirdly a lot of people recommend the e70 arm which supposedly works better and looks more modern, however the curve at the mount end goes the opposite way, it’s designed to sit on the right when not in use. No way I could fit one, would drive me insane every time I looked at the rear end

Can just fit an aero blade on that and it will look modern. The plastic wiper arms later BMW’s use look worse after a while as they fade so quickly.

Now Mito, we are men, we are not
animals.

Good lord no, there will be zero aero blade retrofits in this household!

You must be the best person to buy a car from
@Sundayjumper , basically guaranteed that 90% of all the little things that need sorting have been done
ETA: I have bought one car from you in fact, and that was a pretty good one until someone drove into me.

(and before any smartie-pants says the oil pressure gauge isn't zeroed, it's showing residual pressure in the system, it does drop to zero with the ignition off)

Not sure if you realise this- The oil pressures not zeroed

Pretty straightforward as it turns out.

That looks like a very large hammer for a very delicate job

The size of that hammer didn't even click when I scrolled past

It's not a hammer, it's a persuader.

Just by being there it dissuades any.... silliness.

Or even... a mallet

The compact has had dodgy paint since I’ve owned it, some very dodgy previous repairs! Patches of burn through, runs, lacquer peel. The bonnet and wings have been painted at some point as well as waistline up on the doors and quarters.
With a week off and a break in the weather I decided to bite the bullet and tackle the worst side. Also the side you can see from the road or when you pull into the drive.
Hard to show how horrible these bits looked, obviously being metallic they look worse in certain lights.
It still needs a wet sand and polish, I’m not going to obsess about getting a perfect finish from the gun when a fly could come and land in it at any minute

It's flying ant day around here today, I'm guessing you're OK in the flatlands.

Yep, conditions have been pretty much perfect all day. Minimal bugs ( none in the paint anyway!)

Headlights have been replaced on the 991 and squeaky pan roof fixed (apparently). They've also said they would replace the broken illuminated sills which is a bonus (as they're £900 for the pair + fitting). They only have one in stock and have to order the other from Germany so looks like I'll have to take it back again later in the year to have that done.

Taycans depreciating like a stone and then some, shame they don't have quite enough range though.

Weird that they are ordering so many in as dealer stock… I was under the misapprehension that most were ordered to spec by the customer… unless they’ve had lots pull out and give up their deposits given the state of finance…
