Very smart. Is the colour the normal Porsche Grand Prix white?

Did you do the rubbing strips delete as part of the respray or had it already had them removed (I'm presuming its not an ultra rare Club Sport which had them deleted from the factory as it has the standard 928 wheels rather than the S4GT ones... #928nerd :ugeek: )?

@Jobbo it's burgundy over linen. Seats are mushroom which I'm not really a fan of. When I do the interior, I'm going to recover the seats in linen leather with burgundy piping.

@GG. It is indeed Grand Prix White. The rubbing strips had already been removed by a previous owner. Mine's a boggo '87 S4.

Adding burgundy piping is a wise choice, it'll carry the colourway across the whole interior really nicely. It looks a bit like a pick'n'mix at the moment!

No such thing as a Boggo 928 when the only car more expensive in the normal line up was a Turbo! Love the picture of your son - just a few decades ago...

Interestingly I watched Risky Business recently on the flight back from Hong Kong. Can't believe I've never seen it and it has made me want a 928 badly!! Needs to be an S2 manual in Chiffon for me though which is basically hens teeth. Auto to manual conversions must be pretty easy to do these days though...

That photo is a couple of years old now.

Auto to manual conversions are doable, but manual boxes are rare (and expensive), you need to change the torque tube as well as the box and the final product isn't as good as you'd think. The manual box has quite a clunky action and the clutch is heavy. Plus, if you know how the modes of the auto box work, the benefit of a manual is actually minimal. Cost of a manual conversion would be well north of £5K.

Thanks. I'm not a fan of the colour choice either. It would be too costly to completely change the colour but once it's done as I want, it'll be a cohesive (and very 80's) colour scheme.

Yes I expect it would be a faff to do and better to get a manual if possible but if you could find a very nice auto for a good price (with a well preserved interior) and did a swap for £5-7k I think you'd quite easily get your money back. When you look at the costs of resprays and replacing interiors etc. it probably pays to get the wrong box in the right car and work from there rather than have to take your pick of ropey manuals.

Heater / window panel done - I can now use the heater without wanting to wash my hands afterwards every time !!

The “Becker” badge on the radio was sticky too, so that got a wipe down at the same time.

What an improvement!! I was thinking that taking this off would also strip off the white icons on the buttons. If only all jobs were so easy...

I'm not totally sure but there's plenty of them around. Maybe it changed on later ones.

It's weird that they made them in Fahrenheit in the first place, being a European manufacturer. Doing it in °C would have been easier and then just be Italian and NGAF if anyone wanted it in °F.

And then you'd have a load of knobs and buttons which have no markings and don't illuminate at night...

The plastidip suggestion was in relation to the door releases; the heater controls happened subsequently.
