No doubt the trader in question can also amble his way through a shitty finance agreement form as well.

You're a big boy - I'm sure you can decide on a thread title after a few months of research.

Also, having a look at another 330 ragtop, this time in Bradford....even on a Sunday the driving standards are terrible over here!

It will more than likely be a shed.
Go buy the silver one

It'll be sold by the time he stops overthinking it.

Didn’t have Beany down as a convertible type..
Anyway, this is the correct E46 colour:

Not entirely sheddy, but not as good as the silver one.integrale_evo wrote: Sun Aug 05, 2018 2:09 pm It will more than likely be a shed.
Go buy the silver one![]()
Heard on two cars now is a light ringing noise from underneath at a standstill (can't tell if it's there when moving due to other noise). The 'good' ragtop didn't do it, and neither did the blue one being fixed up.
Not VANOS clatter/tick (although the first car did that too), and dipping the clutch doesn't change it - anyone got any ideas?
240PP - neither did I, but in the metal I really, really like the shape with the roof down, and from what I recall from contemporary road tests, it doesn't suffer from notable chassis flex, the roofs are generally reliable, etc etc.
That, and I've always fancied a ragtop of some kind if one came up, in something I was looking for. I mean, you should own at least one in your life, right?
Re: Beany's Seriously Impressive Pish and Drivel / Cars he wont buy thread..
This! Fucking buy the silver one and have done with it Beany.
It looks great!
Re: Beany's Seriously Impressive Pish and Drivel / Cars he wont buy thread..
I'd ask him direct but it would probably save time to ask you instead. Do you know why he didn't just buy it?
Re: Beany's Seriously Impressive Pish and Drivel / Cars he wont buy thread..
Trade in value of the Mondeo is lower than I expected, to be blunt - got about a £1000-1500 to find depending on what car I want.
So I'm having a look into bridging that gap, in a manner that doesn't involve a sawn off shotgun and a post office. (sadly)

Not surprising really - a trader is looking for a margin on both the sale and the trade.

Very true - can you tell I don't buy and sell cars often?Rich B wrote: Sun Aug 05, 2018 6:35 pm Not surprising really - a trader is looking for a margin on both the sale and the trade.

Not to drag this up again, but why do people buy cars from traders, excluding them being able to organise finance and / or worthless warranties? Especially at this end of the market.

it seems the answer is cash flow.JLv3.0 wrote: Sun Aug 05, 2018 7:15 pm Not to drag this up again, but why do people buy cars from traders, excluding them being able to organise finance and / or worthless warranties? Especially at this end of the market.

But based on a lowball offer on the Seriously Impressive Mondeo. And a markup on the BMW. Anyone see where the discrepancy might be arising? Barring the near-identical post from you above?

Because buying and selling cars is a pain in the arse unless you're a hoarder and have others to use / borrow.
Most people want it done in one transaction so you don't have to tax and insure two cars at the same time, one of which will be on 0ncb, then deal with morons.
Or sell your car first because you need the money for a new one then you can't get to work / get to the new car which is a pain in the bum.

Beany did have the idea of buying an interim sh1tter to go view cars didn't he.
re the convertible, I concur. If you don't need the second row of seats would a Z4 be in budget? 3.0 natch.
