It could probably be argued that the cyclist should have stopped and waited if there was a hazard blocking his lane rather than veering into another lane.

But then you're stopped in the middle of the road and you have right of way. I've been in the situation. You see someone still moving so you move out a little, they keep rolling so you have to decide whether to stop, move further into the main lane or cross into the junction to go behind them.

Three shitty choices because someone couldn't use the junction properly.

If a car overtook me while indicating to immediately cross my path, I'd be braking to see what their next move is. I'll never undertake a vehicle indicating to turn across my path until I know they're definitely giving way.

Or it could just be another one of the million little human errors that all people make and encounter every day, that Make no fucking difference to anything and everyone just carries on their day.

Apart from cyclists with cameras... obs.

I’m guessing the cyclist had had an annoyingly incident-free ride up to that point and upon nearing the end of his journey realised that the jeep was his last opportunity for a bit of self righteousness.

So would I - but I’d also be pissed off at the driver overtaking while indicating left. Cyclist had good reason to expect he’d be cut up, and the Jeep stopping is not sufficient to excuse him.

What this doesn’t show us the row if parked cars the cyclists have already passed. I imagine looking at this that junction might be difficult to see out of and necessitate a little edge out to see the road, so I’ll give the taxi benefit of the doubt.

The one who flies past intending to turn us a cunt. As mito said, slow down and drop in behind them as the Highway Code tells you to act.

tl:dr taxi ok ish, left turn wanker

There's suitably grainy camera footage of Dan Walker's accident now. I predict car & cycling twitter will implode under the weight of their own self-importance today as judgements are handed out.

Eh? You don't think that the cyclist had right of way over the Taxi.

It's taken from a car which is turning off the roundabout which skews the perspective, but I think it shows a driver just not seeing him at all and driving in to him. The tweet says Dan Walker "swerved" but I think that's down to the perspective from the moving car.

Looks like a very lucky escape. Apparently there is an underpass or something to avoid the roundabout so of course there's lots of tweets saying how dare he choose to cycle on the road and expect people to not knock him down.

Cheers,

Mike.

Looks like he wobbled into another lane to me on the DM vid. I don't think he was riding particularly well myself.
